How should we play against Gravesend?

Recommended Posts

Just my thoughts but this time, the “sexy football” is out the window. If we do play it, we will get caught on the counter and conceed goals because Gravesend have the forwards to punish us. They will stay tight anyway so there won’t be much chance for the usual passing game. We should be more defence minded and get stuck in like we are playing Northampton. I hope we learned a few lessons when we played them before!

My only suggestion is a full on assault on the floodlights. Not usualy heavily defended so a small SAS type group may do the job employing a pincer movement using smoke grenades, side arms and pliers !

It's going to be a great game now that we are back to our best. Our No1 striker is fit again and scoring. Hopfully our dodgy patch is out of the way.
See you there !!!!!!! grin.gif" border="0 grin.gif" border="0 grin.gif" border="0 grin.gif" border="0

I watched the Gravesend v Grays game Saturday..where G&N struggled against a poor side who were down to 10 men for most of the second half. G&N looked to have rested one of their lofty centrehalfs, which made sense as most of the Grays forwards / midfield are about 5 foot tall. Having seen G&N at our place, against Purfleet and on Saturday against Grays they have a definate weakness at right and left back which should be exploited. Their two centrehalfs seem to cope with situations well, but I would imagine Duffy and JK (if selected) would have a field day down the wings. I wasn't impressed at all with the G&N forward line. If Canvey play their normal game, I can see an away win here.

Weakness at right and left back.... I reckon you were watching Dartford.

Obviously that wasn't the left back thumping a drive past the keeper from 25 yards.

Superb goal I agree...but I was more concerned with Skinners defensive abilities. He was found out abit when G&N played Purfleet, when a rather sluggish forward continually outwitted him and enjoyed a lot of joy down the right hand side.

Although the fella got M-O-M on Saturday you can't really say he was tested at the back at all.

Not bad going forward...but then I would have been - considering the opposition!.

Completely disagree with you captain haddock about Justin Skinner, he had received man on the match on two occasions, agaisnt Croydon and Grays. His attacking football is great up the left, his crosses are good, and that goal, i mean come on, it was better than good. Anyway i think canvey should exploit our weakness in the centre of defence area wink.gif" border="0 our centre backs are the worsr and canvey should exploit that, thump balls right over their heads wink.gif" border="0 .
