Guernsey FC Rearranged Fixtures

Guernsey FC has announced its rearranged fixtures for the remainder of the 2012/13 season.

Starting in March, fans will be treated to packed weekends of football, with Friday night and Sunday afternoon games at Footes Lane. March will see 10 games for the Green Lions, of which 7 will be at home, and there will be 8 fixtures in April, of which 5 will be at home. This could increase if Guernsey FC progresses further in either or both of the EL Records Premier Challenge Cup and the FA Carlsberg Vase.

Sunday 3rd March - 1330 Cove FC (H)

Friday 8th March - 1945 Badshot Lea FC (A)

Friday 10th March - 1330 Dorking FC (H)

Tuesday 12th March - 1945 Bedfont Sports FC (A)

Sunday 17th March - 1330 South Park FC (H)

Tuesday 19th March - 1945 Epsom & Ewell FC (A)

Friday 22nd March - 1945 Sandhurst Town FC (H)

Sunday 21st April - 1330 Hanworth Villa FC (H)

The full updated fixture list is on the club's website at www.guernseyfc.com

Well done for getting a plan sorted - let's hope we don't have a wet March & April!

In the know & sparky100 will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of decent gates on a Friday night for their home fixtures. The Badshot Lea game in particular could be a cracker if both teams are still in the title race.

I echo Pauls comments

Being aware of the fixture pile up it comes as no surprise drastic measures have been take to ensure all games are played, however we aren't happy that at no point were we consulted over the change of date.

I appreciate the position Guernsey are in and have nothing against the players or coaching staff but clearly this re-arrangement is something that hasn't happened over night.... for neither Guernsey or the league (more so) to have either A: informed us discussions were taking place that would affect our fixture or B; consulted us over the matter, lacks common courtesy towards those clubs who have sorted their travel plans or are in the process of doing so!

I don't think the League would have amended Saturday fixtures without speaking to the clubs affected first. However, those discussions would have either been with the Secretary or Chairman, who may or may not have consulted others.

I think credit should be given to the League for taking a proactive approach. As bobuk says, GFC were elected into the League by the clubs, so the clubs have to take the good and the bad of that together.

This Friday/Sunday fixture list could come very unstuck if Guernsey progress to the Semi Final stage of the F.A.Vase,which I fully expect to happen.Fixtures on the 9th Feb,1st/3rd March,22nd/24th March,29th march/1st April will need rearranging if this happens. The earlier the double headers start the better, why wait till March?

So this is no longer a Saturday league but Sunday league to accommodate one team what a joke

This is only to accomodate all the teams who complained about loss of earnings etc. if they had to travel to Guernsey on a Tuesday night.

I think a huge well done should go to the league fixture secretary for trying to accomodate so many teams that do not seem to have any concern for the integrity of the league competition , may the best teams do well etc , they only seem to concern themselves to the detriment of everything else in what is best for themselves.

so if you only want to play on a Saturday then l guess completing the seasons fixtures is of no interedt to youself

What a condescending post from a Guernseyite, would help if you had a decent pitch for starters. And had your own Ground, rather than playing 2nd Fiddle to the Egg Chasers, who's Clubhouse you share.Do not preach to us about completing the fixtures, when the fault cannot be laid at any other Clubs door.

you sure nobody at your club has been consulted, informed, agreed, on the fixture changes?

as we have been told untill this happened nothing could be published

Not sure who your team is "Pauls"

But i see on both South Park FC and Badshot Lea FC, websites, the fixtures have been updated.

As both clubs have pitchero websites any one of the administrators of one of the Premier Division clubs that have a pitchero website can update the divisions fixtures.

Fine, treat us the same as other clubs and teams have to travel on a Tuesday night to Guernsey then.

In response to Queues

I checked with the officials at my club (Cove) as soon as I heard on here that a change had taken place, prior to my posting on here. They are also frustrated at what has happened and have passed on the email the league sent. It was one general email/bulletin that went out to all club secs announcing that the fixtures had changed so no; nobody consulted us.

I am sure I speak for my players when I say that we are all very excited for the whole Guernsey experience and that few could have hoped to fly for a game at our level - I am not a Guernsey hater or saying you don't belong in this league etc but I stand by my original points.

This whole thing could have been dealt with better by simple communication from one club to another via the league. To have one email sent to many clubs informing them their original fixture has been changed through no fault of their own, after much planning and organisation is a little disrespectful to the work that goes in to planning something on this scale.

Millers. What is your role at Cove? I am assuming you are a player?

Any league will deal with the designated "official" personnel at any club (as per handbook) re such issues. Then there are two ways to go.

1 Make a decision.

2. Consult with the team manager and make a decision.

What happened?

Wouldn't worry too much at this stage Millers - Guernsey will be in the Vase 6th round on 2nd March so your game on 3rd will get moved anyway ;)
