Mansfield V Liverpool FA Cup

Recommended Posts

lots of talk about how Mansfield may be the giant killers of Liverpool in the press, but there is a lot more to the story than that.

Mansfield may be one of the few non-league teams left but it could be a much bigger story than that.

The Conference side only just managed to get past the 1st round tie after having to go to penalties in the replay against a lowly Evo-Stik Central side.

It was the mighty Slough Town who went up to the wilds of the One Call Stadium and held them to a 0-0 draw.

At the replay at the intimidating Holloways Park, Slough Town took them to penalties after ending 1-1 from 120 mins of play.

It then went down to the lottery of penalties to decide who went through and Mansfield got the bonus ball.

Mansfield then struggled to get past Lincon going to another replay after a 3-3 draw.

If only the luck had been on Slough Towns side we could have seen a game of sides 159 places apart in the pyramid - now that would have been a FA Cup fairy tail!

Lets face it nobody is really interested in this game as Liverpool will win at a canter, it's all about Carolyn Radford, the Mansfield Town CEO:

Suarez should be banned for cheating Mansfield.

What did he do wrong? It was accidental hand-ball which either the referee or Lino saw as its been reported that he said even IF Suarez had said he used his hand the goal would still of stood as the referee ruled it was accidental.

Come on, how many professional or indeed amateur players would have gone up to the referee and said no goal? By the way he whacked the ball into the net he expected to be ruled out.

The outcry is down to the fact he is seen as a dirty foreigner. If an England player did that to win a vital match, would there be an outcry? Was there an outcry when Owen dived to win a penalty in 1998 against Argentina? Something he later admitted to.

Some people need to get off their high-horse, the crap in the papers and Jon Champion comment on ESPN have been embarrassing.

I'm loving the media lapping up their manager Paul Cox as some sort of heroic leader of a bunch of minnows - the Mansfield fans thought much differently after our 0-0 draw with them - they couldn't slag him off enough! LOL!

It's a crying shame Mansfield didn't get the replay they deserved not only for money reasons, can you imagine Carolyn Radford going to Anfield!

Many moons ago I cautioned a player for punching the ball in the net. It was very obvious that he did it and he said he was only doing it for a laugh. I asked him if he would have told me if I awarded the goal. He said of course he wouldnt. So I cautioned him :)

Like I said it was all about Carolyn Radford, no doubt we'll be hearing a lot more of this amazing woman in the weeks and months to come:

Nothing if not an interesting couple, but they seem to care about Mansfield Town which is something former owner Keith Haslam did not.

It's no coincidence that Carolyn Radford's Mansfield Town are flying at the moment and, with games in hand, should easily be able to overhall Grimsby and Wrexham to gain automatic promotion back to the Football League where the Stags belong. Forest Green, Newport County and Kidderminster who, are also currently in the running, won't last the distance and you need binoculars to see favourites Luton back in eighth place.

I wouldn't be so sure about Mansfield, Rhodes.

A good side, but they will do well to even make the play-offs.

I agree with Forest Green, and a lot going on there behind the scenes that makes for uncomfortable reading. If anything, they might soon be headed back to the Southern League or have to reform if Dale Vince walks due to threats being made against him and his family.

Luton Town will be there or thereabouts, but I am going for Wrexham and Grimsby to go up.

Carolyn Radford will be a breath of fresh air in the Football League next season, she had everyone eating out of the palm of her hand when Mansfield played Liverpool and you couldn't take your eyes off her

Dale Vince has put millions of his own money into FGR and now he is apparently receiving death threats and other forms of vile abuse from fans.

IMO anyone that puts money into a football club is absolutely barking mad.

That is true, Alan, and he has also re-branded them without consulting the fans.

FGR, sadly, have been a club waiting to implode for a while. They are stuck up on a hill near Stroud and get nowhere near the crowds needed to sustain them at Conference Level, and would struggle in League Two.

They are almost remiss of Histon, playing far above their natural level.

Whilst I am no fan of Dale, or his uber green ego trip, nobody deserves to get abuse like that.

The thing FGR fans don't realise is that, if Dale goes, so does the money. He can wind them up for £750k, as he has a non-taxable amount that is his and that has to by law be paid to him, when he leaves.

Onto Carolyn Radford, well Rhodes you do know that she is a call girl and still sleeps with men despite being married? I can't say she does much for me TBH - my mate once thought it was Joe Elliott of Def Leppard in drag! :P
