Chairman Dave Diaper issued the following statement on Pitchero: “It is with heavy heart I have to announce that it is our intention to resign from the Division One South & West at the end of the current season (2012/13) and drop down to the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier Division.

“This decision has not been taken lightly and we have been honoured to be a member of the Southern League. Our decision is based purely on financial reasons. We have received planning consent on our application for a new facility and our resources will be stretched to the limit as we ensure that the project is delivered within budget.

“The new facility will provide much-needed revenue and it is hoped, in time, that the club will be in the position to apply for promotion back the Southern League.”

Also, it looks as if Winchester City may be looking at demotion to the Wessex Premier, due to a lack of finance.
