No excuse we were under strength but under performed today. Hitting posts and getting goal line clearances still doesn't change the scoreline.

Playing the second half with 10 men doesn't help. Harsh on Christiam Lester but we still haven't learnt. You can't win anything without discipline.

Think you will find alot of teams will be under strength for a few weeks with holidays and suspensions carried over from last season.

Two Groundhopper’s Views

South Midlands League Premier

LEVERSTOCK GREEN 2-1 LONDON LIONS

Admission £6.00 Programme £1.00 Pasty (see below) £1.50

Attendance n/k (approx. 50)

The Lions roared into a third minute lead from a corner and held out for almost half an hour before seemingly gifting Leverstock Green an equaliser despite having virtually the entire side at their disposal to prevent it. Second half wasn't anything to write home about until two minutes before the end when the hosts finally tamed their visitors who, despite this setback, should equip themselves well at this higher level.

The snack bar was closed - apparently the lady isn't doing it anymore owing to a bad back - so food and drink was served out of the back of a van which may become a regular occurrence. No cheeseburgers, instead a very crispy and overcooked pasty was offered which didn't seem to have any discernible filling apart from what looked like some very thinly sliced frankfurter sausage. Maybe that's why they only charged £1.50 instead of £1.80 and I'll draw my own conclusions about why a calculator was needed to work out the cost/change.

No alcohol was consumed in the making of this visit.

Leverstock Green 2 London Lions 1

(Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division) Att: 38 h/c

This, on the other hand, wasn't much good. A nondescript game at a nondescript ground, I'm afraid. Other than the three goals, there was only one attempt on target in the entire game, and that was a very weak header. Home number 7 took both goals very well, and was the only player to leave any impression.

The ground has covered standing under the clubhouse overhang and an Atcost seated job opposite. Plenty of parking inside; £6 in plus a quid for a pretty ordinary prog; tea in a mug was good value at 80p. The M1 was very well behaved.

And of course the Leverstock Green report
