however the start of the season has been very much over shadowed by the sad passing of Johnny Flynn yesterday, the Club's legendary gateman (see below). RIP:

VERY SAD NEWS

The Club is sorry to have to report that their long serving (at least 36 years) “Gateman” Johnny Flynn sadly died in the North Middlesex Hospital early on Sunday 11th August.  Johnny had not been in the best of health for some years but shrugged everything off and continued to enjoy his football and his association with the Club.   After a heart attack some month or so ago he had been “in and out” of the North Middlesex on three occasions.   All who knew him in the world of football and his other friends will be saddened and miss his ever cheerful and knowlegeable presence at home matches.

Just a quick word of thanks to everyone associated with Takeley FC and the referee and his assistants for allowing our Club to hold a minute's silence in memory of Johnny Flynn and the way in which everyone impeccably observed the same . It meant a lot to our Club that we were able to pay our respects at the first game after his passing and it would not have happened without their co operation. Nice touch, nice people, look forward to welcoming you to our ground in due course.
