Away at Ash

Well, I would say that is possibly the best result of the season so far.

Windsor missing numerous key players, playing a team who have made a decent start to the season on a pitch that flattered to deceive.

I thought we looked more likely to score, but we didn't really take control until the forced introduction of Jason sheehan, such a difference having a player to hold the ball up and distribute it accurately. Come the second half and Windsor should have scored a hatful but it took a great strike from Sheehan to decide the game.

Ash just kept giving us the ball back, it was as if they weren't allowed over the half way line for the first 25 mins of the second half. And the ref was generous to us for most of the game, should our keeper have walked when he brought down the striker going past him, should Laza have been more harshly dealt with for his "challenge" on the keeper. thankfully neither did happen but they could have done.

Comedy moment was when Laza sent in yet another long throw, as the ball made its way across the goal mouth it managed to evade all attempts to be touched and rippled the net. The players, and us behind the goal, seemed too embarassed to cheer, the ref didn't seem to know whether to award it or not so the lino waved his flag and gave a goal kick. We all know that you can't score direct from a throw but it happens so infrequently it does cause a something of a stir.

Ultimately the players battled and worked and ground out a very good result, the icing on the cake being Ben Harris getting 20 mins or so at the end. He looked good but he was blowing out of his backside after 3 minutes, but when he is fit, oh yes........
