Just thought I'd chip in with a few thoughts. Feel free to agree, dissect or criticise as you like.

We seem to be in a state of flux at the moment. Two of our three best players last season have now left in differing circumstances. Also, very awkward for Burge to have to replace three first teamers at very short notice, so early in the season and at a time when results haven't been good.

I reckon none of us knew how much of an impact Bairoh's departure would have made. He was our best defender last season by a mile, and up until now it looks like we've been floundering without him.

Is anyone able to say when Bits and Rob announced they were going to Australia? if they'd known for a while they were going, it's very unfair on the club that they re-joined this season knowing they'd be off. That's two first team places Burge would have been better off sorting out in the close season. It also seems strange that Bits had been asking to play centre forward for ages and has left just as he was given the chance.

Very sad at Samad going, and very disappointed with the lad. In my opinion, he was a lynchpin to build the team around. I don't know the story of how Samad came to join Walton and Hersham, but he'll find it hard to reproduce his attacking prowess on that awful lifeless pitch. Samad leaves as our top scorer so far this season. Puts our forwards to shame, and they need to buck up quickly.

Still, it isn't all doom and gloom. Jamie looks a real find and the sort of brick outhouse midfielder we've been crying out for. Elliott's also looked very useful and deserves a prolonged spell in the side in my view. The lads made a fine partnership in the middle against Chertsey. Stick Weighty and Alex or Terrell in midfield with them and we'd match almost anyone (having not been at Slough / SYCOB, I don't know where Josh plays, so maybe he's a good option too?).

Joe Lynch sounds a great prospect as an attacking defender and, having checked Bedfont Sports on the web, Harry Driver seems to be another back with attack. We just need to find the right mix, and a bit of solidarity, and prove to ourselves that life goes on without the departees, and successfully too.

We've been in worse scrapes than this, and there have been some fine words about Ashford on the Slough Town forum. The consensus is that we played far better than our league placing and that we should move out of the basement area soon. Let's prove them right.

Sounds like I wont know half the team again when I go to my next match in a weeks time....... This continual change in first team players is not healthy for a club struggling badly at our current level

I won't know some of the players' names either. Looking at Staines Town's details on Wikipedia, it looks like we've signed a striker called Joel Hughes but he's been called Joe and Josh on our website instead, and we've signed a new defender callled Queem which might be a nickname as his first name's Qaseem.(Hopefully he'll be a kimg in our defence!)  What with Awoala being nicknamed Fred instead of Alf early doors, I reckon the team shirts should have names on the back now!  :D

Before the slough game I was feeling down in dumps and couldn't see any light at the end of the tunnel. However, with the performance we put in and the new players and some new arrivals on the cards I am feeling a lot more optimistic.

As far as I know Bitz and Rob have recently been invited out to Austrailia by some friends who are out there working. They will be out there for a year and quite frankly would have been mad not to go! I believe the club was informed as early as poss and the manager began looking for replacements. I think it will be good to freshen the squad up and get some competition for places.

As far as I know Samad was offered silly money, and it will be interesting to see if he actually gets what he's been offered!

As I understand we have added a new centre back from Staines who played in the cup final against us. Harry Driver looks a good find and Jamie Connor will be a great asset once he gets some minutes under his belt. Joe Lynch will be banging on the door for a regular place now Kazi has gone. If Kofi can put one in off his backside and get back to some form we will be a threat to anyone. Terrell had an excellent game at sycob and now he is playing on the right side could really be one to watch.

Season starts on Saturday for me.

Let's get at em.

As I said, the season starts on Tuesday for me!

We basically gifted Aylesbury a 3-0 lead at half time and the match when Weighty saw red.

Positives were Joe Lynch who was tireless and still chasing lost causes in stoppage time. Alex Duffy who seems determined to drag us out of the mire and Harry Driver who put another good shift in. Oh .... the chilli chips were nice too.

I like the way the Aylesbury report begins "A whole heap of criticism on the web site will probably not help the situation" (a couple of emails? A whole heap?) and the reporter then lambasts the side in far greater detail than this thread - though maybe that’ll be filed under constructive criticism.   :P

Actually, can I retract that last message and apologise? Reading the details again, I reckon our reporter was referring to what he was about to type as the heap of criticism and not my earlier comments.

Anyway, I'll be at the Help For Heroes tie. I wonder why our opponents' nickname is 'Fosters' and not the first part of their location? :D

Steve left the club because of other commitments.

Alex has left because he was not enjoying his football. None of us are enjoying it at the moment Alex!

I thought he would have had a bit more fight than that. Very disappointing. Everyone can see that the Manager is rebuilding and as far as I am concerned this is the first bad spell we have had for nearly 3 years. People need to get behind Burge and the squad and do their bit to turn things around. I know behind the scenes there is lots of effort being put in to rectify our poor start.

Easy to walk away, takes more of a man to stand and fight!

We do have some decent and, in some cases, very good new faces. Not my call as it's up to Burgo, but I think Joe Lynch and Elliott Jones need a run in the first eleven, and possibly Tom Brunton as well.

Jamie looks a handful and will cause the 'oppo problems', and I was quietly impressed with Joe Hughes and Harry Driver last night.

As for the 'old hands', Robbo definitely looks more assured on the right flank, and I'm not sure if Kofi's malaise is down to a lack of confidence and / or a lack of service from the midfield, but that needs to be addressed.

We still have the likes of Danny Byron, Harry Roberts, and Weighty when he's back from his ban to call on.

If Steve Scott's gone, will he be replaced 'in house' or would we be allowed to have a word with, say, the club's scorer Andy Smith who's at Chertsey Town?

By the way, can someone make sure the emergency gate by the halfway line is fully secured? I mentioned this to Phil last night, but four blokes gatecrashed through that entrance 20 minutes into the game last night and had the audacity to ask what the score was! At least one of them did use the bar at half time but, even so, that's potentially half the ref's fee lost though the turnstiles in that manner.

Players leave for all sorts of reasons and we will probably never get to know the real motives for their departures. It has to be said, however, that Paul apparently has a very small budget to work with, which makes it very difficult to build a strong squad. The club has made remarkable progress in reducing its debt and with a bit of luck, we will be debt free by the end of the season. Until then the only way forward is to all pull together, especially us, the fans, to try and encourage and not criticise every mistake that a player makes.( I include myself in that category).
