What a relief to get a win at last. Well done to the players and management.

It was a good open game with chances at both ends, we scored two excellent goals and played some really good stuff at times.

Hopefully the win will give us some much needed confidence because at times the players looked anxious, which no doubt leads to some questionable decision making such as flying into unnecessary tackles such as the one that led to the second half penalty. We are a curious mix of over and under-enthusiasm. There were examples of our players allowing the opposition to run past them whilst at walking pace and other times when overzealous tackles led to freekicks and a penalty when doing nothing would have been the preferred option.

If we can improve in our decision making, I am sure that this team can carve out more victories.

PS I hope that their No3 is OK after being taken to hospital.

Good result. We were on a hiding to nothing, away to a side a division below and near the bottom, but well done anyway. A win's a win.

Things could be worse. I groundhopped a bottom-of-the-table team two divisions below us on Saturday, and only nine home players bothered to turn up. A portly bloke in his early 50's turned up to help after 25 minutes, but that was it.

Fantastic to hear Jock Mullan's up and at 'em again. Almost like a new signing.

(PS - Could someone dig out the old megaphone in time for the Royston game on November 9th? Bearing in mind the erratic radio mic, I might need to use it!)

You are a good Ashford Town historian, yes Andy played at No 9 for a good few years his partner Bobby B also prolific in scoring goals and if my memory serves me well his antics in the box got us many penalties.

Bob could also play in goal as did his brother and nephew who appeared for Ashford

Any other budding Ashford historians out there if so name them

Well done Beano.

Last question for Ashford historians, two brothers played for Ashford in the eighties one of them scored in both the Middlesex and Surrey Premier cup finals in the same season. Ashford won one and lost the other.

Name the scorer and his brother.

My researches suggest the goalscorer was Neil Morwood, but the name of his brother eludes me, mainly because I haven't been through the press coverage from the season in question (1989-90).

The Surrey Final was won, the Middlesex one lost, to the now defunct Hawkeye (Willesden) and promotion was achieved to the Combined Counties League at the end of that season.

I was hoping you would have Neil's brothers name, I can't remember his name. I am not sure if he played in the Cup Finals

I attended both games, The Surrey cup final at Walton and I think the Middlesex final was at Edgeware but I could be corrected on that account

We beat Farnham Reserves who where in the now named Combined Counties, may have been the DAN AIR league then. Bobby Burgess was also on the scoresheet that night.

A night to be remembered was had back at Short Lane after the game.

Can we name all the sibling double acts that have worn the famous tangerine and white in the same games?

I will start us off with the Harris brothers, Scott & Warren.
