Jacko

Recommended Posts

Before even thinking an opinion can someone tell me whether the pre season rumours that Jimmy was slagging the club off (particularly the manager) in local pubs are true. I was very disappointed when told about this as I thought Jimmy was great, but unfortunately if they are true then surely this shows lack of respect particularly for Andy. Anyway, I guess the decision is not ours to make. Too much good news at the moment to think about much other than what a difference 90 minutes of football can make. Let us hope the good news just keeps on coming. <img src="/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" />

If Jacko was to back, would he even get in the side? I wouldn't pick him ahead of walshe.

Maybe not, but at the end of the season Walshe's loan spell will be up, and I can't see us being able to afford to sign him permanently.

Personally, I would love to see Jacko back at the club. We can't really blame him for signing for Dagenham when he was given the chance - it's easy to slag them off now, but I'm sure most of us expected them to be play-off/title contenders once again. In fact, they were badly placed halfway through last season, but had an extraordinary run of form that put them right back in contention.

I agree that the captaincy issue would be a problem if Jacko returned (and I still believe that it is a big if), but it would be a problem worth having if we had the chance to attract one of our greatest ever players back to the club. And as for those who think players' second spells at clubs are often disappointments, think about Steve Portway. While he wasn't quite as prolific in his second spell with us, he still scored plenty of goals - so it's not always the case.

Not going to say much on this subject as I consider Jacko to be a mate, so my opinions are bound to be a little biased. But one thing is for certain, Jacko NEVER openly slagged off the manager or management prior to his move. He has been extremely loyal to the club over the years and considers this place to be his real club.

He is an honourable man that always put the club first. His reasons for going were entirely acceptable If it was a purely money thing, he would have gone years before. And of course he would walk back into the side, are you being serious if you think otherwise?

Why do you think he has been coming down to watch so many games while he has been injured? He still likes it here!

Anyway, its all entirely hypothetical at the moment, but it really is amazing just how short peoples memories are.

I think we were disappointed but not surprised when Jacko left. going on tour with Mr Bentley certainly did nothing to change his mind.

I think the skipper issue is a non runner, Jacko would not expect to be the skipper, Macca would not expect to give it up. I have seen Jacko a few times since he left GNFC and he is always just Jacko.

One thing people seem to have forgotten is how would Jacko feel about coming back, Yes we all realise he loves GNFC and feels its his home etc etc.

But lets not forgot he left to hopefully gain promotion with Daggers, that's all gone pear shaped he then has a long term injury, not a great season so far and its only November.

Quite right Andy - after all, didn't he turn down a move to Nottingham Forest a few years back?

Look out for Paul Gibbs who was a trialist in tonights 5-2 reserves victory over Bishops Stortford. Left sided midfield/defender, very confident, skillful and experienced. No spring chicken, looks like he's been around a bit and is a bit hard! With our limitations on the left right now (Skins injured, Walshey unwell) he could be a prudent signing even though our squad is bigger than some 2nd Division sides!!!!
