Metropolitan Police v Enfield Town

Three challenging RPL fixtures for 'The Town' over the festive season, starting with an away day at Imber Court tomorrow, against Met Police, followed by Wealdstone and Margate.

Met Police currently lie 19th in the League, nine points ahead of us, having played one game more. It is always a well contested close encounter at Imber Court, but the marked improvement in our play, since the arrival of George Borg, gives everyone genuine cause for optimism that we can pick up points in this match.

Really good to see that George is continuing to strengthen the team, with players who have played at a higher level, with the reported signing this week of two forwards, Bertie Brayley and Marlon Thomas,  on dual registration from Chelmsford City. They follow the other recent arrivals from Braintree.

Good luck tomorrow to George and our players. Let's hope the match gets the go-ahead, after all the rain this week, and we get the right result.

I make ETFC his 21st club (although he has had several spells at a few clubs like Harlow Town, Heybridge Swifts and Chelmsford City). He'll score goals for our club.

On a note about the pitch the Met Police website states -

"Club Comment : As of today ( Friday 20th December ) the pitch is improving & has been spiked & slit to aid drainage. It needs a full dry day to make it playable & no more significant rainfall before kick off.
The forecast is for more heavy rain overnight, hence we have arranged a pitch inspection for tomorrow morning."

The rain is scheduled to come at 01:00hrs this morning all the way through to 3pm!

Dreadful weather across the UK so no real surprise, torrential rain and plenty more forecast. There will be a lot of postponements today, and probably quite a few more over the Christmas period. Shame, as we have just blown the perfect excuse for avoiding last minute Christmas shopping!

Never mind, put your feet up, see the matches on the box, eat, drink, be merry, and have a 'WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY'.
