Replay Venue to be decided?

No. It's undecided. It's ridiculous having just 500 tickets for a club just four miles away that attracts an average of nearly 4,000. There'll be many hundreds coming to Park Lane without tickets and it'll be chaos, not only to mention no chance of segregation as Southend fans will buy tickets for the home sections. Common sense says play it either at Roots Hall or at a neutral ground that has a decent capacity.

As far as I know - it cannot be at Roots Hall under new F.A. Cup rules - following the Farnborough/Arsenal tie of last year. It can however be at a nuetral ground.

Despite this the game should and must be played at Park Lane - it will be a police nightmare, but short of it going to Upton Park, I can't think of an alternative location.

This the great allure of the FA Cup, after all. The minnows get the chance to take on the big boys and there is always a chance of an upset. But that upset is all the more likely when the likes of Manchester United have to travel to Little Snapwinkle FC and play on a ploughed field, take turns to wash in the kitchen sink and have a delayed kick-off because the home players are still getting home from work on the tram. It's a great leveller and is partly the reason why this is one of the most popular football comptetitions in the world.

Seems a shame to me if the hooligans hi-jack the game by loutish behaviour outside the ground and what a poor day it is when rather then control the yobs, the police take the easy route and insist on the game being played somewhere else.

Lightening rarely strikes twice and a replay at Roots Hall would (IMHO) probably go against Canvey, should it be played there. At Park Lane, however, it is a completely different kettle of fish.

IT'S GOT TO BE PARK LANE.

Well our offical site confirms the game will be at Park Lane with a 7 45 ko. All the statement on your site says is that both clubs are talking to police about arrangements for the game. I guess this means travel to and from Park Lane, segregation, parking and ticket prices.

Park Lane it is then.

Just pretend , for a moment, Southend have just had a remarkable result and drawn 1-1 at Upton Park in the third round of the F.A.Cup.

A replay is planned for Wednesday week.

West Ham supporters are incensed." You can't play it at Roots Hall " they say "it can only hold 11000 and we have twice as many season ticket holders as their entire ground can hold." "Play the game at Upton Park again so that everyone can see the game and you will make a lot more money".

"And how will the police cope. Thousands of West Ham supporters live in the Southend area they will all turn up without tickets and there will be loads of trouble".

"Come on play it at Upton Park again, you know it makes sense, and its only just down the road, 30 minutes on the train."

"Alternatively lets play it on a bigger neutral ground. How about White Hart Lane?"

Would Southend move the game?

I think not.
