Anfield Towner,

I don't think you realise just how much one line of your posting is really nice to read.

"Best of luck to anybody that genuinely has the interests of EFC at heart."

It is very encouraging to read things like that.

I am pleased for you, that you are happy 'with your lot' at ETFC and while its to early to say anything about our club, I know that we are happy with the way the team(s) are now being run. We had to put some reserve and youth players out at the Windsor & Eton match on Tuesday.(No, my son did not play!) We lost 3-0, but everybody was pleased with the football that EFC played. They did well for a team thrown together in 24 hours!Windsor & Eton evidently put a nice piece on their site about the EFC team.

Nobody is asking any fans to drop the clubs they really support, but it would be nice to just get a bit of support for EFC sometimes. God! I even supported Arsenal in a match once, when they needed to beat Liverpool to win the league. (Only cos my other half is a gooner).

Gonzo, the merger that you talk about, with EFC being run by the supporters, was exactly what I had in mind, because both clubs will not survive.

If it is the case that ETFC has gone too far down the road (so to speak) for this to be a realistic proposition, then I really cannot see EFC surviving. This was my point about regarding EFC as something worth preserving - despite all that has gone on - because if there is not a collective will for it to be preserved then, as you say, its history alone will not save it.

It may be that there are too many people with too many axes to grind, but I think that all those who are in positions to influence the situation ought to think long and hard before the stage is reached when it is too late to do anything.

As to what EFC can "offer" - is that really the way to look at it? If it is viewed in that way then we need go no further. Looked at from the perspective of a great club split asunder now healing that split to go forward and recapture past glories is the only way any sort of progress will be made.

Yours in football

Terry

Meaning he can't be extradited as Northern Cyprus is not internationally recognised.

Right my 4ps worth.

Note my real name. Note my history of EFC because anyone with real connections to the club will know me.

Things have gone too far down the road and far too much has been saidby supporters of both sides for a merger to happen. Personally I would hate it. I know how much reaentment there would be from certain people for any cohesive or constructive work to happen.

I too wish my old friends and any othergenuine fans at EFC good luck.

People will need an awful lot of convincing that Laz is not lurking and that will work against you.

Jim

Having read all the above it appears the supporters have control of the club and TL is on his way out, This will take some time as handing a club over to its supporters i would think take more than just a meeting with them.

As for Terry Back leaving the club this can only be for the good as he has done nothing good for the club while being Manager or Chairman (for a week).

If the supports are to run the club why do some ETFC supporters seem to think it is doomed, look at the mess ETFC nearly got itself into with Leyton, that could have seen the end of them before they has even got going.

Power to the supporters
Power to EFC

the future can only get better

and finally
Lee Harding is not at Braintree Town

Yes the name Enfield Football Club
it belong to Enfield Football Club and is not for sale, Loan, Taking or merging

I can't see any harm in EFC and ETFC TALKING ABOUT a merger if TL really is out of the picture. Both sides ultimately have the same goal don't they? - a permanent ground of their own in the borough.

Surely the council won't really take the cries of under 100 EFC supporters seriously will it?! Whereas together we have a much larger voice within the borough.

It may well be the case that things have gone too far for a merger. In which case it does no harm to see how we can both work together to obtain a ground which both clubs could use.

Maybe there's no way in which we can work together, but I would like to think that those in charge of both clubs would be open enough to at least initiate a dialogue of some kind.

A ground share would not work due to the pressures of keeping the playing surface in good nick. With ETFC Ladies now on board, I feel that they should be our priority and I would also like to see a reserve team playin gin the future.

Agree about the ladies and reserves. It seems to me that the problem for many fans is finding time to watch any more games. Not sure how we solve that!

There's no greater dishonour, than letting the club die.

But that may be preferable,to having the great name 'EFC' (that has been built up over 100 years) being disintergrated week after week, with humiliating 7 goal reversals.

When EFC played their last game at Southbury Rd,they were top of the Ryman Premier....In hindsight maybe that when the club should have folded.

At least then EFC would rightly have been remembered as argueably the greatest NL club of all time....Instead of the laughing stock NL football,as they are know becoming.

100 years of 'honour',being destoyed before our very eyes. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
