Hookey
Interesting that on the RSPB ID board in the hide, it says watch out for flocks of these in "Winter"!

Little egrets are a fairly common sight at Harrow Lodge Park in Hornchurch, although never by the polluted lake but in trees above a stream. I have seen lapwings in Northern France but don't remember seeing them before in the UK, and last week was the first time I have ever seen a bearded tit. Eastside Urchin
You get big flocks if lapwings in the winter, many coming from Europe to escape the harsher weather but they are here in decent numbers all year round to be fair. Bearded tits are not easy to see, there's not loads around but they are doing reasonably well nowadays. They like reedbeds, usually large areas of reedbeds and are reasonably secretive and don't seem to like the wind but on a bright sunny day you can hear their ping and get good views. As for little egrets a local breeder nowadays but prefer the coastal areas in the winter but are starting to winter in land as well now such are the high numbers now resident in the uk

I haven't been down that way for some months now, though.
