i read that following their apparently successful (attendance of over 2800 ) free entry game against hampton ;i read that Dulwich Hamlet are offering free student entry for their next league game.

Never thought these things really work-but must admit-if you get over 2000 there-as well as perhaps geiing an additional 50 or sdo to come back permanently-food and beverage takings would surely outdo what you lose on entrance money.

I wonder whether Mr Laslett would consider it a worthwhile one-off exercise to try the free entry thing at Margate FC.

Would it attract 1500 there to a league game ?

would 50 or so new customers come back permanently ?

I think they are clever when they do it,both times they have been at home when there's an international break and they have pulled in fabs from Crystal Palace which is just a couple of miles down the road, think palace advertise it in their programme.

It will work the odd time but I reckon after 2/3 times it will die down as in my experience fabs who watch premier league football don't tend to like non league too much, saying that, while it works it's a good cash injection to the club

The supposed value of these initiatives is not the size of the crowd on the day but how many new faces return for the following home game. Generally, given the experiences of clubs across the country who've tried this, it doesn't happen. People take their freebie then go back to watching Soccer Saturday in the pub the next weekend.
