littlehampton Posted December 19, 2014 Share Posted December 19, 2014 During the run-up to the festive season, there are few things more appealing than a day at the seaside, particularly when it offers Towners the chance to skip last minute Christmas shopping, get down to the south coast, and cheer on Brad and the boys against our old friends and rivals Bognor Regis Town. The Rocks were formed in 1883, and over the years have enjoyed considerable success. Those of us with long memories will recall our epic cup battles with Bognor during the Southbury Road days. They have reached the 2nd Round Proper of the FA Cup on four occasions, and knocked Swansea City out of the competition in a replay at Nyewood Lane, after drawing at the Vetch Field stadium. Bognor are currently 10th in the RPL table, after a slow start to the season, which saw home defeats to Leatherhead, Maidstone United, East Thurrock, and AFC Hornchurch. The Rocks recent form shows signs of improvement and, as we know from last season, there are no easy pickings at Nyewood Lane. Expect a hard contest, and let's hope Brad and the boys do the business, and we are all celebrating at the final whistle. Good luck everyone. See you there! This was a very disappointed result for the Town faithful, after the ETU reverse on Tuesday evening, and once again it was a case of missed chances and poor defending. Town started well and should, in all honesty, have been two goals up in the first 5mins. Those missed opportunities proved costly. Bognor went ahead, capitalising on a defensive error, Town equalised close to half-time with a well struck free kick from new signing Tony Burke, only to concede the decisive goal a couple of minutes later direct from a corner. Think Brad and our players will be very disappointed by these back-to-back defeats. They follow a very good run of results, and we should have got something from both matches. Billericay away tomorrow is another interesting challenge. Let's hope we keep things tight at the back, take our chances, and make it third time lucky!
