Thanks for the advice.  I have rhino skin.So no worries  :D

Yes I am a parent of one of the boys. I have followed him through various levels of football. I can say for sure he has played against with better technical ability and quicker. But as you will know these are not the only challenges a player has to face.

I was at the Windsor game today. For the 1st 20 minutes or so Windsor blew Guildford away. They hit the bar and post in this time, The diamond formation Guildford played suited Windsor's game as the full backs (especially the Left Back) where continually overlapping and putting dangerous balls into the box. Guildford got back into the game when they changed to a 4-3-3 and pressed high.

Both goals came from sloppy play. The first one, when the Guildford full back decided to play the ball across the box for some unknown reason for one of the Windsor midfielder to finish. The 2nd came from a corner where Guildford didn't win the first or second headers and the Windsor sub (who had been on the pitch less than a minute) scored with his first touch.

Cannot grumble about the result. The better team won. But Guildford weathered the early Windsor storm otherwise it could have been a lot worse.

RedskinBlack i would love to know your definition of a successful coach/manager. From what i can see you have an ex pro player from a two bob league in Africa as a manager and an assistant whos only coached youth team football? Whilst this will come across rude i find your statement of calling them successful coaches as remarkable. We all know Raynor had a talented squad that won the CCL and im sure they were being paid handsomely.. is he arguably more successful then your current management? Many have tried to win this league with pacy kids and failed. Camberley for example are a big build squad of players who have had a very good season up till now. Its not all about tricks and flicks but more knowledge of how to play the game

Very harsh comments Non League i,all older players were Youth once. The hard thing is keeping them if they are any good at the Club where they started out,Croydon Athletic had a good youth set up once, but the Ist team Manager would rather pay experienced journeyman a pound or two. However if you named a squad today from those Youth players you would be shocked.

Sean Clohessy---Colchester

Wayne Routledge--Swansea

Jay Gasson---Basingstoke

Andre McCollin---Kingstonian

Sam Clayton---Whyteleafe

Danny Waldren---Bromley

Jahmal King---Horsham

Anthony Hall---unattached

Moses Ademola---Woking

Dan Clayton ---unattached

Terry Fennessy---unattached

Ryan Hall---unattached

Not a bad squad to say the least, but alas for one reason or another they moved on,so it is very hard for any Club to go with Youth,as the culture of Football has changed Big Time, thats why you have to admire Batesy at Wembley,1 career,1 Club,a 1 off.

I think youth team managers should stick to running youth teams it really is ridiculous to ask them to apply their skills in mens senior football,i would never dream of trying to manage a youth team it just aint what i am able to do horses for courses as they say.

in mens lower saturday football and steadilly progress,i started in the surrey intermediate then went to CCL reserve ieague and then into CCL Prem where i found my level,no good going from kids to mens overnight, to many try to go straight into 1st team management without gaining the skills they need to have learned before getting a 1st team job imo.

Smudge - Andre McCollin is at Aldershot now. Scored the first vs Woking today. Jayden Gibbs also played at right back.

I don't know if this is true, but reading between the lines I would suggest that Kevin Rayner was providing most, if not all, the weekly budget at Guildford. He's gone, money gone meaning Guildford have to look down a different avenue. Good luck to them if that's what they want to do.

having read that back Smudge it was harsh but its just a shame that it appears guildford are going in the wrong direction. Terrible start to this season so far and such arguably have been challenging for the title this season, minimum runners up

If you heard and can still on Guildford's website, Rayners comments at the end of last season when interviewed, he also said that Guildford would be CCL champions before a ball is kicked !  Big mistake.......

Rayner was obviously thinking he would get the players back that won the league previously, but this time round perhaps his high budget then, he was not prepared to pay out now, hence the very poor start that continues now.  Its hard to get out of the relegation zone and with respect, I think Guildford would be struggling this season and could be one of those relegated, but I think thats depending who wins CCL Div. 1 there could be reprieves this season to some CCL Prem clubs....but alas not the bottom club unfortunately.

That depends on their record Duncs.

DFC's youth team manager is a former long serving and successful Dorking senior player who is heavily involved with the 1st Team managers.

Last Saturdays 1st. team game proving the point.  Several DFC Under 18's listed on the team-sheet with two starting and one assisting with Dorkings 2nd. goal.

The beauty of this game is it is all about opinions.

I'm relatively new to this level of football, so I bow to your superior knowledge.

Non League. My definition of a successful manager is one that has won things at the level at which they have managed. And the current Guildford manager fulfils that criteria. Whether he will be a success at this level is another matter. Some successful lower level managers do well when they manage at a higher level, some don't. Only time will tell, To beat him with a stick meant for the previous incumbent is unfair.

IMHO, it is blinkered to think that someone that hasn't managed at this level is unable to do so. Currently a club I work with at youth level have appointed a first team manager with no experience of the level in which the team plays. Yet already he has picked up more points than his more experienced predecessor. You can't beat experience, managers that the been there, done that will know the players, styles of teams etc. But experience is not the be all and end all of anything

I think Guildford should be applauded for their bravery and forward thinking. If you stay still, you in effect move backwards.

ok we will have to agree to disagree no problem, the one thing however that must never change is the 1st team must always be any clubs main priority,i get a sneaking feeling that some of you would change this if you could, also i am of the opinion that if a youth player makes it into the 1st team then thats where he/she must play their football.

As I have mentioned before, I tend to agree to some extent but the manager needs to know his brief with the club as to what they expect.  In Guildfords case, I feel that with Rayner at the helm they were looking to be champions again, but this time promoted into the Southern League Div. 1 Central as opposed to last seasons fatal South & West, that is why they got Rayner back ?  Infact I believe Rayner actually mentioned this in his interview.!..(I do stand corrected).

As we know, the above expectation did not materialise as Rayner could not get his players back again subsequently a very poor start and results see them in the relegation zone.

So looking at this situation, knowing that Guildfords ambition of promotion is very unlikely, the board have taken a new stand and view to promote youngsters (Youth players) into the fire and hope they avoid relegation, this I expect to be the new managers brief, then sit down over summer to see which direction they want to go either stabilise in CCL Prem and build up a team and/or go for promotion next season.

Be interesting to know, but if Guildford want to keep that in-house I fully understand, but thats my standing on Guildfords current plight.
