Enfield Town v Canvey Island

Happy New Year 2015 Everyone!

After a brilliant run of league form, suddenly, for some inexplicable reason everything seems to have gone pear-shaped, we have suffered a poor run of results and currently find ourselves bottom of the form table.

December was definitely not a good month for the Club. Having seen both the East Thurrock and Bognor matches, where we performed pretty well, without getting a share of the spoils, I was not prepared for the drubbing at Billericay, which was a massive disappointment for everyone. Ironically, our home fixture with Billericay is scheduled for the 14th February, when we have the chance to inflict our own 'Valentines Day' massacre!

Looking back to August, and the start of the season, we played  Canvey Island on the Saturday and Wingate & Finchley 48 hours later on the Monday. We lost both matches by a single-goal margin. Now, by a strange quirk of fate, we host 'The Gulls' two days after our visit to Summers Lane, and this time really do need to steady the ship, and get back to winning ways to steady nerves and restore confidence.

Canvey are currently 17th in the RPL table, having won only one of their last eight league matches. Town have home advantage and I expect them to edge this match and secure three precious points.

Very best of luck to Brad and the boys. Let's go out, show what we are capable of, and do the business guys!

Looking forward to tomorrow nights match. See the weathermen are forecasting a cold spell this week, with the possibility of occasional showers, but no serious rainfall. This should make life a bit easier for our grounds-man Jack in preparing the pitch. Game on?

Well done Jack, pleased to hear the prospects are good.

Towners will recall Canvey Island beat us 2-1 at the Prospects Stadium back in August, with an injury time goal, when a draw seemed the most likely outcome. The gulls match against Hendon on Saturday was called off, so they come to us 19th in the Ryman Premier table, ten points behind Town in 12th position.

Everyone will be hoping our guys come out firing on all cylinders, determined to get back on the winning trail, after our disappointing reverse at Tonbridge on Saturday.

There is always a great atmosphere under the lights at the QE 11 Stadium. I'm really looking forward to coming up from the south coast, to join other Towners in supporting Brad and the boys, and fancy Town to show their quality and win this match in style.

Best of luck to Brad and the lads. Let's do the business guys!
