Town 2 Leatherhead 0

Well done to the Town, who put in a very good shift on a very heavy pitch.

I felt Leatherhead had the better of the opening 25 minutes, but were kept out by an excellent defensive display. From then on we took control and scored two excellent goals either side of halftime. There could have been more but it was a good all round performance.

The refs decision making was erratic but thankfully didn't affect the result.

The pitch cut up badly and might need the heavy roller before Monday night !!!!   COYB

Considering the state of the pitch despite the heroic efforts put in to getting the pitch passed i thought we did well.

It cant be easy for either team to play on that surface. But they did and obviously the sharper team won. To be fair it was a team effort, that produced the goods. COYB's

I forgot they called us a pub team after our one nil victory at their gaff... How embarrassing for them. To be done twice by what they consider a pub team... Puts their efforts into perspective.

A very work man like effort and tbh, everyone I spoke to said they had the better of it at the beginning... Did they? Really? Well our defence coped with a couple heart in mouth moments but if that is the best of it... Well bring on more teams that have "the best of it".

Defensively, it was back to business as usual with Halle leading and his troops rallying around. And how important is it to have Callum Dunne back working in midfield to break things up!!!!

The two goals were welcome. Hard work brought about Affi's tap in header... Although you do have to work hard to get into those positions. And Bakers super strike came out of nowhere!!!

Let's not forget Pooley. Working in midfield like he does defies his soon to be 34 years!!!! Puts many a younger man to shame with his work rate and creativity. And on a very heavy pitch. We also have a couple of improving players that are becoming essential picks... Jack Edwards is now fulfilling Craig's faith in him... As supporters we must remember these guys are young and it will take them a while to settle and Jack has done so... His performances over the last five or six games must be worthy of a POTM soon. And a mention to our two new backs Ola and Teddy. Settling nicely thank you...

If I missed anyone out, apologies. And Billy... Legend goalkeeper. You are going to so missed.

Top that off with a successful quiz night and we had a glimpse of what a great club we are when we pull together.

A great Saturday in my opinion

Gazza,

If, "everyone you spoke to said they had the better of it at the beginning" , could it be that you forgot to remove your rose tinted monocle again? lol

We have enough class to rise above their "pub team" jibes and give them some credit for starting on the front foot yesterday. In any case it gave our defence a good work out and they came through it with flying colours. As you say it was a good team performance and it was difficult to highlight any particular player, but I would like to give Scotty a mention. We tend to forget how young he is, but he continues to develop alongside our more experienced CH's and made some excellent interceptions yesterday. COYB

TBH, I hadn't reviewed my pictures until after the post and I would say that okay, they had their chances as everyone does but TBH, everyone see's the game differently. Friends and myself often discuss different points and opinions during and after the game... surely that is why we are all individuals ;-)

And I am bathing somewhat in the post "exhaustion" of supporting the club in other avenues that were successful last night... (see "Thank You" post) So my glasses maybe of a "sunny" disposition but that is not a bad thing... surely we could all do with a bit of that at times?

I agree Ryan Scott is a commanding presence in the middle of defence as well as in attack at set pieces.... One of the many youngsters that are now playing with an assuredness that belies their youth. If they continue and stay with us, I believe that glasses of a "sunny" outlook will be the normal optical accessory for a "Blues" supporter
