A look at the books

Yeah I understand he has the hump with BTSA for asking where the donation money is going.

Can't be easy running a club, the financial black hole must be hard to avoid falling into and the Chairman has made great strides in getting the club up straight and for that all the fans are grateful.

I am not a member of the BTSA for my own reasons but I can imagine the blunt discussion.

We are a small non league club and it's all in the delivery when you ask for any donation for any cause. The BTSA is run by a team of volunteers and people that bend over backwards dedicating much of their personal life to their love of the club and so they want to feel involved and consulted, why can't they ask the question??

Saddened to see another dig at previous aired and fairly made comments by fans (regarding us becoming more like Dulwich) to during the clubs financial analysis blog!

Oh well 11 months till Christmas, maybe enough time to get myself back on people's Christmas card list, as sure to get criticised for airing an opinion on here....

Of course if anyone actually wants to see the accounts (true figures), they are available at a small cost.

I think you miss the point I was trying to make Barry. I hope I am not alone when I say I don't question the clubs figures and most definitely not the Chairmans integrity. What the Chairman has done for this club is immense and on a shoestring he has worked miracles and if you take a ten minutes to look at what we had just a decade back you have to say to yourself, "thanks Steve",  but the steamroller approach and don't question my take on things attitude is what has alienated so many.

As I said earlier those involved in the BTSA at the top table are the hardened volunteers who spend their week toiling over the programme, music playlist, mascot plans, 50/50 and other fundraising ideas and just want the club to progress, if they want to ask a question then why not!?

Sad thing is that from the Chairman at the top, the BTSA in the middle down to the passionate supporters like me, we all just want the same thing and that is for the club to not just survive but move on both on and off the pitch but in my view the approach from those at board level just doesn't bring out the best in us.

Patriot, you misunderstood my point. I wasn't questioning the integrity of the Chairman nor the figures. Except the figures as quoted in the website article of course are all rounded up (or down) and that the true figures are available and out there if you wish to view them.

I fully understand that the day to day running of a football club at our level is a tough job.

there are a few things missing in that breakdown of income, such as prize money from cup competitions, sponsorship, pitch hire and the successful soccer schools to name but a few, I presume all these revenue streams go towards the playing budget?

Hi Barry, not for one moment did I think you were questioning the chairman I just wanted it to be clear that by someone interested in the club asking a question it doesn't mean that person questions the integrity of the Chairman or board, they just want to know where their money is going, its human nature.

Reading your points i actually think we agree with each other.

I think personally the Chairman has fired out that blog and not thought the whole thing through as yes you are right there are plenty of things missing on the breakdown. You have covered most off but lets not forget the many live music events including Mods maydayer, Blue beat events and Crawdaddy Blues club along with the beer festival etc. all these help the clubs bottom line, well help towards the bills! There must however still be a large whole in the budget and filling this must give the Chairman sleepless nights, just a shame so many people who have done so much over the years don't feel inclined to get involved now and for many they have good reason.

The strange thing about all this is (regardless of folk interpreting or indeed misinterpreting stuff) we all want whats best for the club.

See you guy's Saturday regardless.

You can click on the various tabs to get more information. Don't read just before bed-time!!

In all seriousness though it can be seen that once debt converted into equity has been taken into account in addition to the current liabilities, the amount the Chairman has put in over the last 11 years is very substantial indeed. However, I think it's equally clear that those hoping for more "investment" in the playing squad and facilities might be waiting for a long time.

Incidentally according to their most recent set of accounts Dulwich are in a similar position to us in terms of net shareholders funds.

Yet another negative chaiman's blog!

I'm guessing the Chairman feels a little threatened by the BTSA asking (note the terminology) as to where members/supporters money is going? Is that an unreasonable question? I did note that there was NO budget for pitch maintenance!

Whatever happened to Shareholders AGM's?
