Saturday 24th January Match Thread

I'm pretty sure the pitch is big enough and pretty sure there are no rules stating that a club can force you to warm up anywhere else!

Plenty of clubs with great pitches ask teams politely to train off the pitch but a team can refuse!!

As a generalisation a club can stop the warm up training (with out ball) on the pitch as this is the part that usually causes more damage. A club cannot stop any ball training on the pitch. Of course common sense comes into it as well as off pitch warm up areas should be big enough and poorer areas of the pitch should be limited in use.

Think there is also insurance issue I know Wembley and cobham ask you to warm up outside the ground and whether any injuries damage etc is covered by their insurance as not on their site could be an issue?

I remember in December there being a very frank exchange of views between the visitors and a forthright gentleman  pre kick off about where to warm up before  Mole Valley and Hanworth locked horns at Cobham...almost handbags at dawn!

Insurance could also be invalidated if a club warms-up on the pitch when specifically instructed not to !

WS; Is this a serious response?  What do clubs have to do? Sign an agreement to warm up where directed and receive this in writing?

I think you will need to check you policy!

Providing an area 30x20 for adults (16 players) to warm up in is not acceptable; I'm sure your qualified coaches would have learnt this during their coaching courses (the warm-up is part of the assessment) and would agree!?

I understand that clubs want to protect their pitch but if they cannot provide a suitable area to warm up then the pitch should be used until they can!

Potty mouthed Windsor fans? Get a grip!

We gifted 2 early penalties and could be considered extremely fortunate to still have 11 on the pitch, especially after the first one. How a team could stuff the Hellenic League leaders so comprehensively perform so listlessly in their next game is a mystery. Throw in woeful finishing by Windsor and an outstanding performance by the Farnham keeper, it was clear that we were not going to get anything from the game. Farnham were a constant threat on the break and their left winger was a handful all day long. Can't blame the referee either who was excellent throughout and even he appeared to appreciate the daft penalty calls by the Windsor fans behind the goal and responded with some excellent banter.

guessing Grumpy isnt a popular bloke with the ashford crowd as it certainly wasnt a billiard table they were playing on today

There haven't been any complaints about the surface on the Ashford forum and it was the same for both teams, so I don't think there will be.

If anything, it is important for the youngsters who make up the bulk of the Ashford squad to learn how to adapt to different conditions and grind out results which, in recent weeks, they haven't been. This season was always going to be a difficult test and there is a lot of football to be played yet.
