Are CCL Clubs missing the boat ?

Personally I prefer to see games being played on the traditional grass surface. But at this level of football they should be an awful lot better and that includes my club as well. How do the FA expect young kids to learn the skills to play passing football and truely progress to a better level of football. But maybe this has some impact on home grown talent and why we don't perform on an international front.

Money from the football foundation is becoming more difficult for 3G facilities. Surrey Heath BC turned down their offer for funding as it was too small and they wanted a clause saying that if we made a profit they would want that money put back into football and that would not be controlled by the council. So if some think they can get the funding then run for the hills with the profit you may have to think again.

You can get an attachment to remove snow from 3G facilities so they should be open vertually all year. The one in Frimley Green is open tonight yet the FG pitch is not playable

BS will be crying all the way to the bank when they are generating revenue streams other clubs can only dream about

Had my first experience of a proper competitive match on artificial surface at Whyteleafe yesterday.

It's deffo not the same. Despite awful weather conditions barely any sliding challenges and there was a different feel to the whole match.

Cant complain as the game went ahead but amazed that the league allow blue lines from 2 other marked out 7 a side pitches which go across the pitch in each half.

Don't want to be  a wet blanket here but...

Bedfont Sports received a substantial amount of grants towards the clubhouse and I am guessing that a similar funding stream will be used for the 3g pitch (I stand to be corrected here though).

So, congratulations to Bedfont Sports, but it's always easier when you are getting lots of help on a plate.

NLN has raised a very important point here.

I don't want to open up the old grass v 3g debate once again but clubs need to be very careful that their traditional home isn't replaced by a multi purpose facility with different coloured lines all over it and where the ball won't stay still on a windy day, which let's face, it, is often the case in this country.

Should my club ever get a new ground sorted out, I would be lobbying significantly for a main grass surface with any 3g surface placed nearby where, I might add, it would also be available more frequently for hire than it would be if matches were played on it three or four times a week.

That's a bit harsh Rich.

Funding applications take a lot of hard work as we know only too well at CWUFC.

Help on a plate? So lets get this right, people just donate money to Football Clubs do they,so why have all the other Clubs not been so lucky? There is 2 reasons Bedfont Sports have progressed past other Clubs in the CCL,they have a guy called Dave Reader aided by his son Terry and others. They do not sit idly by,letting grass  grow under their feet,no pun intended. They get off their arses and apply for funding from various sources, which I must tell you is out there for all. They should be given knighthoods for what they have acheived for their local Community over such a short time.I will ask this question, how come their Beer is £2.50p a pint, when the going rate at other Clubs is £3 minimum? and only £6 entrance fee, when at others it is £7/£8.Unfortunately Richard E&E have their hands tied over grants, because they groundshare.

Apologies to all I'm sure. I was just raising what I believed was a valid point.

Many clubs would be in a better position to benefit their local community if they were able to get grants, and I can't help thinking that some clubs are getting a much bigger share of the pie than others. We heard about a massive figure being granted towards their lovely clubhouse. To now get an entire 3g pitch too just seems to be over and above what any club should be getting.

Comments re: groundshare are irrelevant to this discussion Smudge. I wasn't saying this from my club's point of view.

Someone somewhere should be standing up and saying that there should be a maximum amount of funding that any one club should receive in grants over a ten year period. If I was local to Bedfont I would be more than disappointed that a close neighbour was getting substantial help just because they have someone who knows the procedure and can fill in some forms better than another club.

This is not a dig at Bedfont Sports. It is a nice place with nice people and good luck to them. It's actualy a dig at the people who release the funding in the first place. Maybe they are the same ones who deny patients cancer treatments while allowing cosmetic surgery instead.

Some clubs were too young to buy a ticket because they had less than 10 years left on their lease.

We applied on two occasions I believe for the Budweiser money and failed. So we did buy a ticket but no winnings
