Gladwish takeover?

And to follow on from the Wobbly wayne comments what happens when the man loses interest or dies what happens to the club then this man will want some return from his invetment which could well leave us with one of two options no ground or no club but would this be worth it for two or three years of modest success. Surely we should take a leaf out of Charltons books and progress slowly and surely and in return secure our long term future at the top of the non league pyramid

Well done Mr Wobbly. Please "supporters" ??? don't keep complaining in your locals etc. about the club, it will never help bring in the support we need. I doubt if Gladwish would want to invest his money with us anyway, epecially if he reads what the self appointed 'critics' think. Of course I am concerned - I have seen us relegated once, but I really don't think we are in the same situation this time round, and thank goodness for the supporters who stood by the club and helped them back again. Would you rather be in our position or have the problems of Margate, possibly through being too ambitious?

Super Daz I do agree with you we do seem to have a good squad. Our family have supported the Fleet for longer than I care to say, and at times this season I really have felt that it is the best team I have seen and if only we could keep it going we could be unbeatable. I understand the frustration,I feel it myself, but I would never moan about the team outside and maybe keep would be supporters away. Anyway, I will shut up now as I guess the men know more about it than I do. My last comment I promise you - let us all enjoy Saturday and create an atmosphere - remember the penalty shoot out against Exeter?---I don't couldn't bear to watch!! <img src="/images/graemlins/dancingman.gif" alt="" />

Me neither.....I was at work that evening!

As for talking people out of coming - never.

In fact, I know of at least 3 people from work who come down to games now who never had until they found out that I follow the Fleet.

One will miss the game - he's on holiday in Gambia.

The other two will definately be there to see our victory.

In reply to Super Daz I would say on paper we have one of the weakest squads and on grass as well who are punching well above their weight in this division and on the whole doing a sterling job but we unfortunately need a goalscorer which we are desperately lacking at present.

Weakest? All we really need is a striker!

If we converted more of our chances we might actually go into a game at half-time enough goals up that the defence isn't so pressurised in the 2nd half.....

.....if we had gone in at half-time 2 or 3 up against Scarborough, do you think that we would have still drawn?

I agree John,I just feel it's a course worth investigating and not rejected out of hand.

You obviously have to question Gladwishes motives, frankly if I was a Chelsea supporter i'd have to fear that one day Abramovich might tire of his latest toy and pull out, leaving them with a massive players wage bill.

But by the same token there have been some succesful takeovers,Rushden & Irthlingborough Diamonds for one.

One thing it shows with this Gladwish thing is someone out there is willing to invest money into grass roots football. Whether it be with us or anybody else. I can't see any of the big businesses around here saying 'oh I thing I will buy a football club or put x amount into it.' Because they are not interested, whereas someone like Gladwish who is willing to invest money into 1 or 10 football clubs. Let him, doesn't matter what his motives are whether it's for pleasure or to help football in general, he is willing to pay maybe a lot of money to help club(s). This is after all grass roots football where kids come to watch football and learn a thing or 2.It will help to buy good players, bigger gates. Hence more money.

All this talk about the chairman and board, this is ridiculous. Look what has happened this season of the pitch. The start of the supporters trust, new sponsors, players coming and going. All these things have happened in a short space of time. So maybe we should be a little more patient.

Having read all of the messages on this subject I return to the origal posting. It may well have been typed in error, but "erstwhile" sponsor is in the long run probably an accurate prediction for Mr Gladwish, because it actually means " former "! Would he be in this for the long haul? Somehow I doubt it.
