wELL, THE SEASON IS AT LAST TAKING ON AN INTERESTING TWIST

I can't believe that you think that we are going to lose 6 games out of the last 18, (17 if St Albans go belly up)
No reason we should fear anyone really. I know we will lose again this season, but I don't see why we should worry about the other teams, let them worry about us.

Yes Dave, there is no fixture crisis for 'The Fleet' as yet.

As for Aldershot only write them off when its mathmatically impossible for them to catch up. Fifteen points may sound a lot. On the bad side for them I notice that the crowd size there is starting to fall. If they were to win at Stonebridge Rd and say win six league games on the trott they would be right back in it.

Canvey seem to be having some sort of crisis right now, probably started by 'The Fleet' on that wonderfull night. Even the reporter on Essex Radio said they should have been beaten by 5 or 6 at Kingstonian. They nor us are going to win every game. Theres a long way to go and I would watch Aldershot very closely.
Car Jam

Must be said that Carjam has a very realistic outlook on the way the league is going and he is spot on in saying that it's too early to write anybody off.
I think we are lucky in that it is going to be a nail-biting finish, right up to the wire - pity only one team can actually go through. In the meantime, rest assured there will be more upsets, more 'wobbles' and more really great games.
It's what I love about football at this level.
Merv CIFC

What'll deciede who goes up is the ground grading. Pure and simple.
In light of the new ruling which I read on the Canvey message board and if it is true, Canvey ain't got the ground. Okay, they can do the work but if Farnborough are facing expulsion due to their ground, I doubt very much is Canvey can satisfy the Conference officials. I have no idea what Gravesend's ground is like, so I would put money on them come win or second.
I know there has been banter between 'Ricay and Canvey supporters on this but hand on heart lads, do you really think you have the ground? Unless King pulls of one of his "miricales" that he did when you got the vote over Wealdstone, no way will you see Conference football next season.
And don't start larging it over Billericay. No way will we see Conference for a couple of seasons, ground improvement plans or not.
Gotta get real in this world!!!

As far as I know Gravesend actually has a ground which is approved for Conference. Think I have read that somewhere...
It has been a while since I was on this board, but I'll answer those questions anyway:
1) Canvey (finally get rid of them, then we canw in next season...), but if their ground is not up to it, it will be G&N.
2) Let him stay, then we can forget Aldershot...

3) YES! Just one to go now...

4) March maybe?
Per-Helge Berg

Wrong...
Final positions

Gravesend 1st

Canvey 2nd

Aldershot 3rd
Billericay have all ready won three on the trot...

Witham (Essex Senior Cup), Baisingstoke (Ryman PL) and Barnet (friendly).
Okay not league games but games all the same. they lasted 90 minutes, they included 22 players, 2 linesman and one ref and therefore qualify as football games!!!
Gary Calder is a good manager, prone I admit to making some strange "calls" regarding players and over the past two seasons has guided us over some good results especially over your lot!!!

Oh come on Gazza man you're not that desperate are you to record three wins you're ready to include a FRIENDLY!! oh well desperate times and all that!
I'm still sticking by my original 1/2/3 with Canvey top of the pile especially as fixture pile up is starting to look a distinct possibility - have GNFC really got the depth of squad to deal with the enevitable injuries/closely played games???

Gravesend and northfleet know that canvey island are on paper a much stronger team, and we know that we should not be able to compete because of canveys financial status.

I see gravesend week in week out, and a few months ago we would have settled for a top six finish.

But i cant believe how consistent they are now.

It wasn't long ago that i used to hear ANDY FORD out!!, but what a job he has done.

As i said earlier we cant compete with canvey island's money, but we can compete on the pitch.

Even though i still think canvey are the best team in the league, and they should win!!, i think gravesend WILL win the league.

I was at the canvey v gravesend game and they just didnt give us enough credit.

Well canvey, it looks like david beat goliath again!!

See you at stonebridge road!!
smile.gif" border="0

1. G+N

2. Canvey

3. St.Albans (or Braintree if not bust)
Canvney will get a confrence grading because the confrence love the whole pals act, FA cup giantkiller, trophy winnners and millionaire chairman suprised they havn't formed soem clause to get them in already.
As for a earlier message on a previous tread from a Canvey supporter regarding St.Albans and wether Canvey should get the 3 points that they would of got had they played St.Albans in the event of them going bust, well I think that the City fans should sit on a pools panel type aggreement to finish the season.

Canvey away - City win

Gravesend Home - City Lose
Oh dear! thats another 3 points for Canvey to try and catch up with.

After having our first win in three months against Basingstoke, yes I am that desperate!!!
Personally, I think Gravesend are the better team. That isn't me knocking Canvey but acknowledging what I've seen. Gravesend beat us 3-1 at New Lodge and played better football than Canvey for their 4-1 (helped by KK being a total prat and getting sent off - actually they both deserved to go but that is a moot point).
No disrespect to Canvey but I wonder if Mr. King would prefer cup runs over league placing given the immediate cash injection the cups give?
Just a thought!!!

Personaly I think Canvey will scrape into the Conference, (but I would say that), not sure it's gonna be down to the finacial staus though,(like gazza 701 might suggest), still trying to understand how he could come to that assumption, (without going into this subject to deeply), when Jeff has only laid out £15000 this season for new signings, about as much and in some cases less then some other clubs.

G&N have surely prooved they are a very good side,no doubt there, but with games starting to stack up there is still the question, do they have the depth within the team to deal with injuries, supspensions? and games building up??

Andy has made a number of signings throughout the season, we now have a playing squad of 19, plus PASE (youth team) players, and I think we have about 3 or 4 players out on loan (Dave can clarify this). We now have ample cover for all positions, so YES, the strength in depth is there. Also with attendences on the up all the time theres money if Andy needs it.
Good win tonight as well, 3-1 flatters Histon, great team performance.
