FF News
Gainsborough Trinity boss Steve Housham has widened his net in the search for a striker who can score the goals to ease his relegation fears. He revealed he is still searching for a goal-scorer to come in on loan and has been speaking to Championship clubs in an attempt to get someone in. Housham was left frustrated following Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat against Harrogate, when his side created enough chances to win the game, but couldn't find the net. "We are still looking to bring in a striker," said Housham. "We are speaking to managers and have been in talks with a couple of Championship clubs to see what they can do. So we are widening the net. "On Tuesday, we created a lot of very good chances, but we weren't able to put any of them away." Despite former Trinity loanee and fans' favourite Jonathan Margetts being in the stands on Tuesday, for the second game running at the Martin & Co Arena, Housham insists a return for the Hull City man is doubtful. "We have spoken to Jono at length and we'd love to have him back," said Housham. "But he has options and I totally understand his position. "As far as strikers go, if you want quality at this level you have to have the money. Myself and the board have been talking about that and it may be that we try and get someone of that quality next season, even if it means saving money elsewhere in the team. "Yes, the defence is just as important to keep clean sheets, but goals win you games." Source: www.lincolnshireecho.co.uk Source
