Canvey Island 1 Billericay Town 0

Recommended Posts

After the sending off, us hitting the bar, canvey also and a couple of the line, it was always ending up a game that was going to be decided by something unfortunate, which unfortunately went against us.

Note for sheehan though, finish like that in the other end next time.

We need to be careful with these sendings off, we will be running out for players for the senior cup final if we get anymore off in the next few games

I'm not sure how the game would have panned out if Canvey had not kicked the ball into the Caravan park at every opportunity.  It was windy for both teams so that's not an excuse.

They were desperate for a win and the only way that was going to happen was if we scored for them. Which we kindly gifted them a goal and went down to 10 men just to make it easy for them.

Glad this one is out of the way.

I understand Calais Racing Union F.C. are thankfully for the footballs Canvey put in to the channel yesterday afternoon.

Island were awful.  I can fully understand why they're struggling.  Apart from an individual moment in the first half which hit the bar, and the cross which got turned in they did very little, and nothing to justify all 3 points.  If Town had kept all 11 players they'd have won by a margin, but that's football for you!

That's the first time I've been to Park Lane in a few years.  I like the ground, especially the large terrace next to the car park.

Island were awful but got the win. Give me that any time. For as poor as they were, we were worse.

Playing our best striker at centre half until the 87th minute!!!!?

What's that about. we ain't gonna make the play offs, no chance. Change is needed imo

Our performances of late are reflected by our lowly league position, so it shouldn't have been much of a surprise that we're not that great this season. In all honesty, quality of performance means absolutely nothing to me at the moment - it's all about getting points on the board to get away from the drop zone.

Obviously the early red card made things easier, but we played for over an hour against a ten man Hornchurch recently and were pretty hopeless so there was still work to be done.

Just a case of getting through this season still in the division for us and regroup in the summer when we will return to playing like Barcelona :)

For me we were poor, but Canvey were just dreadful. For the first half hour we tried to play some football and at times it looked good. Even after the sending off we tried to create some openings and looked the better team. All Canvey wanted to do all game was punt the ball out of the ground.

The second half was a different story with both teams equally poor to watch and by the end I was looking forward to hearing the refs whistle!
