Dorchester Town have paid tribute to Club President Stacey Legge, who passed away on Monday.

The club released a heartfelt statement on Tuesday afternoon.

"It is with deep sadness that the club learned that Club President, Stacey Legge, passed away on Monday 30th March. The club’s condolences go out to Stacey’s wife Maria, daughter Sarah Jane, son Russell and all his family, as well as remembering his son Alex who tragically passed away in 2014.

Stacey has been a stalwart of the club for many years. He was a long serving member of the supporters club and of the former management committee of the club in the Western League era. Following a period living in London he was a founder member of the Board of Directors following incorporation in 1978.

Stacey was promoter of the highly successful Moonraker lottery in the 80’s and also represented the club on the management committee of The Southern Football League.

He was appointed president in 2009 and attended all home games this season where his powerful deep gravelly voice could be heard bellowing “Up the Magpies”
