FF News
Runaway Northern Alliance leaders Blyth Town have withdrawn their Northern League promotion interest, just hours before a formal ground inspection was due to take place. The news means that only the bottom side in ENL second division can be relegated – with the possibility that none might be, should a Cumbrian team finish in second place in the Wearside League and be promoted to the North West Counties League. Blyth had hoped to overcome long-standing planning issues in time to complete necessary ground improvements, but have been thwarted. “We’re desperately disappointed,” said chairperson Sandra Orr. Stockton Town, unbeaten in the Wearside, had also been forced to withdraw their promotion interest after legal problems over the ground.
