FA Vase Final

All Step 5-7 Leagues have been asked to promote the FA Vase Final, taking place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 9 May between Glossop FC and North Shields FC, kick-off 3.00 p.m.  Tickets for the game are now on sale at just £10 each (£5 concessions) from the FA.  Just go to TheFA.com/tickets to order them.

The holding of the Final at Wembley every season is under threat due to low attendances in recent years and it would be a shame if the Final of the most prestige trophy for clubs at our level had to be played elsewhere.

A day out at Wembley for a tenner is not bad value so CCL clubs, supporters, players, officials etc., please do your best to support the Final.  Of our current clubs, only Epsom & Ewell have ever reached the Final (Banstead and Guernsey came close) and that was back in the days when the League was still known as the Surrey Senior League, but who knows, it might be one of our clubs next season.

Have to laugh at this, the FA say they support grassroots Football,so why would holding the FA Vase Final at Wembley be under threat?

It is their ground after all,so if the ground was not used on this day it would be empty. Motto for the FA,'if we lose money stop having it' POOR SHOW

We have a few still around who remember the day. I was only 8 and didn't know the club existed back then!

The advert is now on our website.

My mum went with her family as they all lived in Hoddesdon at the time.

Use to love my trips to Hoddesdon when they were in the Athenian league.

Totally agree NLN. I'm amazed that no one has ever taken this on previously. The crowd would probably double as you'd get more interested neutrals than usual in addition to fans of four teams and you could guarantee Wembley as the venue then as the debates regarding crowd size would be less relevant.

Strangely our club has never played Hoddesdon since that day 40 years ago on 19th April. In fact we only met them once before then in a pre-season friendly in July 1969. Our paths just haven't crossed.

However, I have a sneaking suspicion that we will be speaking to some Hoddesdon officials in the near future, but that is a different story for another day........
