Enfield Town v AFC Hornchurch

This Saturday afternoon Town welcome AFC Hornchurch to the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium, Donkey Lane, for a Ryman Premier Division fixture of massive importance to both clubs. A match which neither team can afford to lose or draw.

Back in October, when Town beat 'The Urchins' 1-0 at The Stadium, Upminster, few people would have expected them to be visiting us this weekend, 23rd in the table, fighting relegation, without a win in their last six matches.

Despite a couple of blips, Town are playing well with plenty of confidence, and will be looking to turn in another BIG performance in this match, as they battle for another three points to boost their chances of making the play offs.

It promises to be a real cracker of a match, and there will be plenty of loud, noisy vocal support for Brad and the boys in this crucial encounter. Don't miss it!

Good luck everyone. See you there!

That was one big banana skin out of the way today. Great atmosphere created by the ultras as usual but the perfomance felt very flat. We made a pretty poor Hornchurch side look relatively good. We scored two good goals along with Doyleys penalty and man of the match, by some way in my opinion, was Tyler Campbell. Absolutely magical wing play.

Maybe the nerves are beginning to show. We can do this - we're certainly good enough !

By our own standards in recent weeks, this was not one of our better performances, but we held on for the three points against a very determined Hornchurch side fighting for survival. Watching from the stand, I thought we looked very nervy at the back and gave the ball away far too often, particularly in the first half. The windy conditions did not help, but The Urchins first goal, resulting from poor defending, served as a reality check for Town, and in second half we upped our game, hit them hard, and quickly established a two goal lead. We could have added more, but Hornchurch struck a superb free-kick near the end, to reduce the deficit and set up a nail-biting finish. Town deserved their win, but this was a very close call.
