Dorking F.C.  1  -  2  Chessington & Hook.

Full Time.

And at this point, on a non-CCL matter, may I offer my congratulations to Dorking Wanderers who look like having gained promotion to the Rymans League with a 6 - 0 win over Hailsham and Littlehampton having only managed a 3 - 0 win..

Cove 1 Westfield 1. Full Time.

Cove can feel slightly flattered by the scoreline in my opinion, for a team that I have watched a few times they looked a bit jaded today. Westfield were still smarting from their defeat a few days ago and it was pleasing to see the heads up attitude of the lads as they kicked off. Westfield definitely had the better of the first 15 mins and scorned a couple of chances that could have seen them a couple of goals up after just a few minutes, the Cove keeper making a couple of fine saves from close range. Deservedly Westfield took the lead after a mix up in defence left a gaping wide goal to easily slot the ball home. Cove then woke up a little and caught Westfield napping in defence to equalize. Shame the ref did not see the Cove player holding the Westfield goalkeeper round the waist though !!!!!!

Half time with honours even, Westfield went in looking a bit deflated after conceding a goal and the management must have worked their magic at half time as the team came out again and looked inspired once more. Both sides came close to scoring but it was not to be, Westfiled had a late chance denied after the player had rounded the keeper and saw his effort on goal cleared by a great piece of defending from a Cove player to clear the ball from what would have been a certain goal. Westfield should be pleased with the point and even a little disappointed it was not all 3. A great spirit in the team to come back from midweeks result and play as well as they did today. The game was played in good spirit with only one late challenge that was deserved of the yellow card. The officials were not the best I have seen but I suppose they were not the worse either. Just going to rub some aftersun on my burnt noggin now !!!!!

Fair play to Molesey. They were better than us.

First time I've been to their ground since the houses were built and it's looking very neat and tidy. There was a decent attendance there today - probably not far short of 200.

The title's not decided yet but it doesn't take a genius to work out Molesey are now odds on favourites. They need to slip up in both their games and we need to win on Saturday against Spelthorne. Unlikely but not impossible....

Chertsey Town 0 Horley Town 0

An important game for both teams with Chertsey haveing the best chances in the first half and Horley having the best chances in the second half. Town had Liam sent of after ten minutes of the second for two yellow cards, but Town were still the better side. Both teams had chances not the best of games but it now eight games underfeated for Town with six wins so I guess both teams will settle for a point on the day,

Thanks Jellybean. Definitely disappointed not to win it.

Really proud of what we've achieved since we took over. We now have a good platform to move on. First a big game at home to the Champions elect next Saturday. Really looking forward to that and then we can all go away, recharge and plan for next season.

Must say, this season must be one of the tightest ever at either end. Title won't officially be decided until next Saturday and the same goes for the bottom three. The form of most of the bottom half - us included - has been nothing short of ridiculous. Backs up my theory that there are always a lot of cheap(er) points up for grabs after Xmas as injuries, suspensions, etc kick in. I think a well done to all the teams for making the CCL what it is.

I been saying it for years Powelly the only difference between the top and the bottom is very fine and its normally down to the managers and their staff to prepare properly, i.e. training and team bonding, no good having a load of strangers who only turn up for matches and then feck off to their own neck of the woods.well done for this season you can be proud of what you at Westfeild have done

Eversley 4 Banstead 6

Crazy game at Eversley with the host taking the lead 4 times. Full credit to both sets of players .End of season games can be dull low scoring games but both sides seemed to go for full out attack. Could have ended with both sides scoring double the amount. In the end Banstead did deserve to take all the points .

Must say I personally think that teams at the bottom, have let themselves down by their selection of the Managers that they appointed, all of the current 4  at the bottom have appointed New Managers that did not cut the mustard.Westfield at least saw the error of their ways, and changed mid season which worked for them.

Here is our report from the narrow home defeat to Knaphill, who deserved the points for the 93rd minute winner if nothing else. It was a strike that deserved to win a much better game that this one, although that is not the fault of the players who all tried hard, just the conditions made it very difficult. Dry, dusty and windy. It looked like downtown Dubai in the car park at times!

I'm not sure it's as clear cut as saying management decisions. Take guildford for example. They've turned to youth players for the past few months haven't they?

It seems rather than throwing money at trying to stay up. Some clubs have been sensible in a way and looked long term rather than spending in hope to stay up.

I'm sure if Guildford are one of the clubs going down they'll be looking at the next 3-4 years as a plan rather than next 12 months.

Just a thought

Managers are the most important key to any successful side surely.

They are. It was just you said they didn't cut the mustard but perhaps they've done the task set for them in some cases. Like guildford using youth and looking long term.

on a side note. Is it all over at the top do you think? Or could there be a twist.

Agreed Smudge. Mutual consent parting of the waves with our previous manager in mid September. At that point we were 2nd from bottom wondering where our next victory was going to come from. We appointed Tommo, somebody I nor the rest of the committee knew of previously. A gamble, some might say but what a great decision because we have ended up about to play our final game and we will finish no lower than 8th. Put that with wins against (in no particular order) Kingstonian, Corinthian Casuals, we have also taken 6 points from Molesey plus wins against Cove, Ashford plus numerous other good performances along the way.

Come on you Baggies

Thanks Powelly. A change of manager for you has also done wonders and has certainly turned things around. Again, like ourselves you have had some excellent results.
