There's a great job advertised in this week's Welwyn & Hatfield Times. It is for a Shop & Merchandising Manager. The pay is £15,000 plus commission. Who's applying? Wait a minute! It's for......

The Barnet FC fan shop!!!

Can't believe this hasn't brought a comment from the Enfield faithful in over 10 hours! Whatever else divides us, surely we all maintain our antipathy towards all things Barnet?

Perhaps the other 4 of you acknowledge the fact that £15,000 is more than you lot take on the gate over a whole season and probably more than twice what your manager earns!

Not even in the same league matey!

You worry about you're derby game with Cheshunt eh!

The thing is jeff its ETFC Supporters that commented and started this thread we at EFC decided not to enter the silly game they wanted to play.

As for the game against Cheshunt we did ok only going down 3-1 to the league leaders

On your site wouldn't it have been easier to design a template with the words "Enfield went down to" repeated over and over again for you to simply post the opposition's name every week?

What gives smaller teams hope that a player such as Grazioli can be top goalscorer in the conference.

When he played for EFC (on loan) ten years ago,he wasn't deemed good enough, for EFC to take up the option to buy him.

There's hope for us all.

The shop is the same size it has been for about 10 years now, don't let the truth get in the way will you?

Maybe my eye's were deceiving me when i drove past last week, but i could have sworn that only 1/2 the shop was still selling Barnet merchandise.

Also ,is that a picture of Nicky(Linda)Evans.

Or is he a current player that just looks like an 80's throwback.

PS...message to all Barnet fans.

Enfield Town are coming to get you.....It may take 5 years, but we plan to be the senior side to Barnet fc in the near furture. (as Enfield were for many decades.)

This is part of the deal we've got with Irish company O'Neills who produce our shirts. I believe it's quite a lucrative deal for the club.

Apparently, they're looking to expand in this country, but sadly for Enfield FC, they require a minimum initial production run of 100 shirts. Still, you could always get each supporter to buy 3 each I suppose.

So is the part of the shop selling 'Barnet' merchandise 1/2 the size it was last season.

I think the answer your looking for is YES!.

No, because the shirts have simply taken up the area previously occupied by the Maximuscle products that we sold during our FOOTBALL LEAGUE days.

So your saying,it has NEVER been viable to just sell Barnet fc products in the Barnet fc shop.

That's cleared that up then.

I'd suggest that in the early 90's when our support was much larger and we were riding high in Div 3 it would have been very viable, but following our relegation our attendances are practically half what they were 10 years ago and hence the demand for merchandise is considerably less than it was. Nevertheless, over those 10 years our range has increased as has our sales area, with aquistion of a high street club shop, but in order to make that viable we stock other items.

I salute Barnet fc for having a shop on the high street....something that Enfield fc should have done years ago,and hopefully something that ETFC will have one day.

Talking of Barnet's attendences being cut in half, they are still getting a lot more support than they did in the Pre-Flashman/Fry era.

In the 70's and 80's Barnet were averaging around the 600 mark....with Enfield around the 800 mark.

Now it is approximately 1000 against 60.

Very true!

My first game was 20 years ago on Boxing Day at Southbury Road. We won 1-0 that day, but it was only the fixtures against Enfield for the about my first 3 seasons as a fan, that the crowd got above 1000.
