Smudge

I agree that all managers will get knocked at some point. Its easy to knock someone.

Yes, he has done his job in difficult circumstances to his credit. I think that should be acknowledged.

Onwards and upwards.

Oh and congrats to Molesey.

The acknowledgement comes in the fact that he keeps the job,are you sure you know how this game works mate ?

Not necessarily Smudge.

With Molesey going up and assuming Frimley Green are going down that leaves the Premier Division with 19 teams. If AFC Croydon Athletic and Chessington & Hook come up that takes it back to 21 which is still one short of the ideal number. Even if AFC Hayes are placed into the CCL it shouldn't force anyone down. The only thing that can do that is sideways moves by the FA and there aren't any obvious candidates now Dorking Wanderers have gone up.

I stand to be proved wrong but I reckon only one team will go down from the Premier Division and that's only cos FA rules say they have to relegate the bottom team.

Can I change my mind? I thought Redhill had secured a reprieve but they haven't, yet. If we get them into the CCL as well as AFC Hayes then that could send Chertsey down.

All ifs and buts of course.....

Horley 2 Farnham 4

An enjoyable afternoon of football for me, despite not being one of the potential 'games of the day'. ,Both sides scored a great goal apiece in their tally and it was a proper game for which all who took part should be congratulated. Thanks, gents.

We just did not play as well as we have been nice to have carried the great run on till the end of the season. In the end beaten by a side that wanted it more. Good to see Tom Winsor get his award before the game from the Club after 10 years of playing for the Club and now retiring.

A great performance from Guildford City to secure their CCL Premier position and carry on their rebuilding for the future.

My original comment stands firm that the committee were brave and right to make the decision they did and their bravery has been rewarded with a manager and a team that really seem to support the club and its desires for the future in Guildford and gave it their all on the day. Its great to see a good mixture of younger and more experienced heads working together on the pitch to get the results they needed. Next season is going to be very exciting for City if they keep the lads they have and build with more talent too. The quality of players coming from the youth side is certainly going to help.

If 2 go up from 1st and 3 drop down from prem, that will leave 20 in prem and 18 (+ Abbey Rangers). This leaves the CCL with two strong divisions. If one team goes up from 1st and two drop from prem same result. All changes if FA moves teams into or out of CCL.

The match report from our comfortable win at Frimley Green is here:

http://www.eefconline.co.uk/LCN155.html

Seventh place is a nice place to be. Maybe without the substantial suspensions we could have been sixth but the top five were there for a reason.

As for next season VP hasn't mentioned AFC Croydon Athletic going into Kent along with AFC Uckfield from Sussex which will leave them one short. Surely they both will, leaving us shorter and reprieving Chertsey maybe. Hanworth are sure to stay up in my opinion and I think we'll see Chertsey again even though they may have a nervous couple of weeks before its confirmed.

Crikey Rich, people on here were saying if you finish in the bottom 3,you must expect to get relegated.Oh hang on not by your reckoning, just move loyal clubs sideways to other leagues to save them.

The ideal scenario whatever happens, is having an equal number of teams in both divisions.Nothing worse than a Club having to have a Saturday off, lost revenue for starters.

I dunno. I think we had three or four free Saturdays last season due to an odd number of teams or our scheduled opponents having a Cup or Vase game. I asked the manager if he wanted me to attempt to rearrange any games for those Saturdays and he said no. Judging by how few other teams sorted games out it's fairly common to want to have a weekend off once in a while.

That's cos I don't think they will. Promotion from step 6 isn't 'pooled' when a league covers steps 5 &6. The FA only get involved with those if they have to. Having said that, if the SCEL is short....

The CCL can promote three from its Division One, some other step 5/6 leagues only have two promotion spots. I can't see the day a third placed team from our league gets promoted to another league whilst the third placed team in that league's own step 6 division stays put. That's not right.

What I can see happening is the FA standardising promotion from step 6 in the future. Until then I don't think they'll move any of those sides sideways.

Again. I stand to be corrected when the FA do their allocations.

Russ you could be right there, just look at Chessington and Hook flyng up Div 1,they had a few weekends off, done them no harm.

Horley and Chipstead based Epsom and Ewell are both nearer to Uckfield and Sevenoaks than AFC Croydon Athletic. Both have better links to the M25,so my guess if anyone got moved it would be 1 or both of them.

As I've said on another thread, we are aware of our geographical location as are Horley. However, with Holmesdale, Fisher, Croydon on their doorstep and a few others not that far away, it would probably be better for AFCCA to have those trips as opposed to Camberley, Badshot, Farnham etc.

As for the promotion from Step 6 to Step 5 not being pooled, that may be the case in theory but it will stick out clearly on a map if AFCCA and AFCU aren't moved over to cover the shortage there.

To conclude I'm not trying to save clubs, people always seem to think I have some sort of vested interest. If we are moved it will be difficult for us, no doubt, but if we were looking for promotion to Step Four and got it, then we'd be making those journeys so we will have to see what turns out. As with VP I am speculating on a purely neutral basis, and both of us are looking at permutations based on what has gone before. They moved Croydon last year so I'd be surprised if they suddenly moved the Eastbournes and Hailsham over instead ahead of AFCCA and remember AFC Uckfield were nearly moved a year or two ago so know they are vulnerable.

If you are in the top three and your ground is good enough, you'll go up. If you are in the bottom three you are vulnerable. We all know the rules. However, exactly where we play next season is a bit more up in the air these days and we need to realise that while the Kent clubs continue to feed the Ryman at an alarming rate, there are less there to take their place and every other league footprint moves west as they spread west themselves.

On another subject I would love 20 teams in our top flight to bring us in line with the Kent and Sussex based leagues personally as midweek trips would be reduced by four on a 22 team league and one of our clubs could have a Vase run without incurring a massive fixture backlog.

Here is the current projection on another forum: This guy is quite knowledgeable although does always want to place Fleet Spurs in our League every year! Also he has relegated two from CCL yet none from the Southern Counties East League so may not prove to be gospel but it is a good indicator:
