SO, WHO'S TELLING PORKY'S ??

Recommended Posts

Well, the pub has been quiet again of late.  Strange with a general election less than two weeks away.

I made my mind up weeks ago exactly where my vote will go !

HOWEVER......

Just out of a matter of interest, I kept ALL the political blurb that has come crashing through my letter box and last night, in a bored moment, I thought I'd compare them all.

There was absolutely nothing from that Ginger Witch, up North of the border or the Sheep Shagg*rs Association in the west of this Sceptred Isle.  Hardly surprising really, considering I live in Surrey.

The strange thing is that what literature graced my door-mat are ALL promising exactly the same thing, but vaguely in a different way.  Lower taxes for all.  No more building on green-belt land.  Some form of control on immigration.  Better health care.  Better education.

So, who IS telling the truth.

My bet is not one of them.  It's a case of....

"Give me your vote.  Elect ME, then I'll totally screw you and your family and forget you ever bothered to vote for me in the first place !!"

Any comments anyone ??

So true John,at last years local Council Elections, all parties in our area Croydon, promised on the doorstep that No incinerator would be built in Beddington nearby. That a bypass bridge through Waddon would not get planning permission,Labour were the most vociferous about these topics,3 Labour Councillors were elected on their promises, which helped them take control of the Council.Guess what they have been blocked by the Council Leader from even talking about it.The Incinerator and bridge have got the go ahead.Liars the lot of them.

Exactly my point Peter.

And to think, we've got to put up with another 12 days of total bull-sh1t and lies on radio, TV, and through our letter-boxes !!

The ironic thing is that neither of the two main parties will have a controlling vote in The House of Commons.

The real question should be, "Who will do a deal with whom, and for how much !!"

Living in true blue Romford my vote won't matter, but nationally I'm hoping for a Labour minority government supported by the SNP and hopefully a few Greens. UKIP seem to have been exposed as the buffoons they really are and will be lucky to return one single MP.

I can't remember being less interested in a General Election. I'll vote Labour in a safe Liberal seat.

The latest from the SNP that if they share power with Labour that they'll write the English Budget is concerning though.

Damned whichever way you vote, they are all looking to get at the trough although I'd rather have a government that doesn't pander to the idiots who want us out of Europe and seem to think that a commercial partnership with the yanks with their TransAtlantic Trade Compensation for Corporations losing out from being prevented from carrying out criminal activity will suit us better.

Let's face it, the World's Economy let alone little old ours is run for the benefit of Global Big Business and only facilitated by politicians who'll promise us the earth and stitch us up for 5 years instead.

That's what really worries me as well, Loose.

I think they'd prop a labour government up for as long as it suits them, then go for the jugular and probably cause another election within about 18 months !

The main parties have recognised for some time that the key marginals will win them the election and have tailored their politics to match - this has meant the divergence of policies to the point where there's no choice. This has allowed the UKIPs of this world to offer an alternative.

I think that some kind of electoral reform is required so that a persons vote, no matter where they live will mean something and maybe the main parties will then have to get their act together. It will never happen though.

And yes, the parties are starting to promise things that they ultimately won't be able to deliver if they get into power out of desperation - it's going to be close.
