Shortwood United donated £2,000 to two local charities before their last home game of the season against Bishops Cleeve.

Thanks to the club’s run to the FA Cup First Round last season Shortwood were handed £2,000 from the FA’s Community Shield Fund to donate to up to three local charities or community based projects of their choice.

Every ticket and match programme from the FA Community Shield fixture at Wembley between the FA Cup Winners and Premier League Champions raises hundreds of thousands of pounds for clubs who reach the First Round Proper to put back into their local communities.

Shortwood split the sum between Longfield (formerly Cotswold Care) and Nailsworth Youth who were both presented with their cheques by Club President Richard Webb before the game on the final Saturday of the Season.

Shortwood are delighted that the club’s on field success also helped local good causes
