Sadly Andy is not going to be doing the match day programme for Camberley Town next season due to his changing work commitments. Andy has been editing and printing the programme since the 1990/91 season which has amounted to 652 edition's the last one being last Saturday's v Spelthorne Sports. I for one would like to thank him for his dedication and commitment to what is a thankless task and under appreciated by many, that they may find it a hard job to fill.

Reading the title of this thread I thought something had happened to him.

I echo your sentiments Flint, it is definitely one of those jobs no one appreciates. I did it for one game when Andy was away and I hated it (I assume the one I did is part of that 652 figure you mention!). Having to do it week in, week out, sometimes three times in a week - sod that.

I don't buy or read programmes anymore and I do feel a bit guilty when refusing them at away grounds as I know how hard they are to do but they just don't interest me now we have the internet for our info, and I'm not the only one. Many clubs are reporting dropping sales - we struggle to sell 30 when we have attendances of 150+ and they're only £1. I wonder if we can get the league to ask the FA if they can become voluntary. At the moment they have to be done for every game. I think a monthly issue would be fine and, of course, if people want to do a completey new programme every game they still can.

A big hand to all the programme editors out there.

Well Done Andy...you've done a grand job....i personally know what efforts it takes to produce the match day programme (13 season for me) before i got other jobs within the club....

Now enjoy just watching & good luck in the job

Sorry to hear that Andy is stepping down and like VP I thought something had happened to him!

As a programme editor myself with a mere 170 or so issues under my belt it can be a frustrating time when you are sat up finishing a programme until the small hours, knowing you have to get another one completed in the next few days.

However, whilst I understand where VP is coming from on the internet information side, I still think a good programme can be a useful tool for home supporters, especially those who aren't at every single game and of course there are still many out there who are not computer literate. If clubs at this level can spend x thousands on players over the season they are at a decent level and should at least be expected to produce a programme.

Hopefully Andy will not be lost to the club completely and maybe Camberley will sort its website out before the new season as it used to be really good.

Actually, I'm not sure but am certain it varies substantially from club to club.

I suppose it also depends on the printing company. We had another company quote us for our standard programme in January at just over £4 per programme. I had to remind them that the cover price was £2!!

Put it this way, for up to about 32 pages if we sell them out (bearing in mind complimentaries) we will just about turn a profit. If the programme is larger we do lose a little but in our case without a home base the programme and web site are the only way that we can bring traffic in as local advertisers are rarely interested due to the distance from home. Many will go to a particular ground because they know they will get a good programme and so the theory is that even the extra ones are still cost effective.

However, only our Treasurer could confirm that!

Expecting the best programme ever at our Cup Final then,to make up for the entrance fee.

On 3 other matters

CONGRATULATIONS to ex CCL side MERSTHAM on reaching the Final of the Ryman South Play Offs.

When visiting the Combined Counties Official site yesterday,I was bemused by the article Enfield Town played an eligible player, what has this got to do with the CCL=NOTHING Maybe it would of been better posted on the Ashford Town (middx) Forum.

The other thing is no ground yet for the Grant McLellan Final, why not?

This debacle is still rumbling on if you look on the NOT the Enfield Forum and Non-League news.

Seems everyone is trying to digest the VERY lengthy F.A. statement.

We have been advised that a decision will be made after Thursday's second semi final.

Hope it's somewhere equidistant at least!
