Enfield deducted three points.

The Isthmian League have ruled hat Enfield Town played an ineligible player in two matches and have deducted three points.

This means that Metropolitan Police are now in the play-offs, and will play Hendon.

The decision is subject to appeal by Enfield Town.

For information - last night Thurrock beat Harlow in the play-off semi, and Brentwood beat Sudbury on penalties, so the final will be between Brentwood and Thurrock.

It's still subject to appeal by Enfield - there is still no date set for the play-offs and at least one of the potential participants are complaining about the extra expense of having to pay their players for another week (or more).

It now appears that Enfield are going tho appeal - From their website -

"The Board has decided to proceed with an appeal against the FA decision. A date for this appeal has been set for 8th May. The Board will aim to make an announcement next week on whether or not the Club intends to appeal against the Ryman League decision."

So just where this leaves the play-offs, I have no idea, but don't forget that with the three points deduction Grays are also above Enfield in the table.

Given that clubs with an interest in the play offs will have to continue to pay their players, I wonder if there will be any claims for compensation against the league. Not sure if their rules will cover such an event.

UPDATE - Enfield Town appealed the FA original decision on Friday 08-May.

After a hearing lasting six hours, a decision has been deferred until Monday 11-May. Both play-offs are still in abeyance.

Other updates -

The Hornchurch v Enfield Town Isthmian League U21 Reserve League Cup Final will be at WHYTELEAFE on Monday 110May.

The Grays v Maidstone Isthmian League Play-off, originally scheduled over two legs, has been cancelled after the first leg at Grays was abandoned at half time due to due a half time incident involving players of both sides.

That's the Enfield first team decision, not the reserve league cup final? Is that still at Whyteleafe tonight? (As everyone has said, terrible decision)

UPDATE - Tuesday 12-May.

Appeal unsuccessful

So this means that Enfield will not be in the Play-Offs.

Enfield do not intend to appeal the decision, so the Play-Offs can now be arranged, with (presumably) Metropolitan Police now playing Hendon.
