Banbury United are able to confirm that former Brackley Town and Oxford City manager Mike Ford has been appointed manager of the club.

Following interviews with managerial candidates held yesterday evening by representatives of the current Management Board and the Community Benefit Society Steering Group, the post of manager of the club was offered to Mike Ford this morning and he has accepted.

Ford had a long career as a Football League player with Oxford United and Cardiff City and has previously managed Brackley Town and Oxford City. He was manager of Oxford City when they gained promotion to Conference North at the end of season 2011/12.

A statement on the Puritans website said "The Board would like to wish Mike every success in the role and hope now that the manager situation has been resolved that all supporters will get behind the new manager and club as it embarks on what is likely to be a new venture as a Community Benefit Society.

The Board would like to go on record in stating their appreciation for the work Paul Davis did under extremely difficult circumstances last season and wish him all the best in his future career in football.

The existing Board continues to work with the Community Benefit Society Steering Group towards the transfer of ownership of the club in the near future to a CBS"
