The Vanarama Football Conference, in announcing the attendance figures for this season, wish to draw attention to a couple which standout and which many would not have expected.

The first involved Bristol Rovers who, whilst they contributed to creating some new attendance records along the way in 2014/15, aka highest attendance 11,085 for a regular season fixture, plus the Promotion Final record of 47,029 at Wembley, their average attendance at home in the Vanarama Conference was lower at 6,629 compared to Luton Town in 2013/14 of 7,387.

Nevertheless still an excellent average by Gashead fans supporting their team to win back promotion to the Football League at the first time of asking.

Overall in the top flight division the attendances across the board may have dipped by just under 6,000 but the 552 matches still attracted another 'Million Milestone' as 1,023,286 fans swarmed onto the terraces.

In 2013/14 the accumulative total was 1,029,227. Average per game this season 1,854 to 1,865 for 2013/14.

In the Vanarama Conference North crowds grew during the past season from 292,845 to 315,146 with an average displacement throughout their 462 fixtures of 682 compared to the 2013/14 figure of 635.

The second standout figure happened in the Vanarama Conference South where though the division played throughout one club short it actually saw an increase in overall attendances rising from 208,676 in 2013/14 with 22 clubs to 215,839 with 21 clubs.

Average wise this equated to 514 from the 452 in 2013/14. The total of fixtures in that division being 420.

Media director Colin Peake said upon the release of the figures: "Statistics can often be misleading and people can use them how they may wish to prove one thing or another. These released today just give some basic facts.

“Looking forward we make a prediction that we expect to see a rise next season under the National League banner and we will not be surprised to see the NL North hitting 400,000 for the first time for a number of cracking local derby matches are in the offing in that division".

"All three divisions will be back to full complement and though the 2014/15 season has only just finished, alongside Vanarama, our amazing interactive sponsors, we cannot wait for the new season to start on 8th August and with our new name of The National League.

“Fixtures are scheduled to be released on 1st July."
