Gloucester City have confirmed the list of players that have committed themselves or signed contracts heading into the 2015/16 Vanarama National League North season

We are very happy that full back Billy Jones will be staying with us for another season. Set-piece specialist Jones has over 300 Football League appearances to his name and was the Tigers’ second top goalscorer last season, pitching in with 8 goals and numerous assists.

Joining us again for a second season is live wire winger Ross Staley, who was signed from Yate Town in 2015 after impressing scouts on several occasions. Staley also contributed with a number of assists and one goal from the wing last season, in his nine appearances.

Former Preston North End and Accrington Stanley midfielder George Miller has also committed to the team for next season.

Miller, 24, signed for the Tigers in September 2014 but his season was plagued with injury and he made just 19 appearances in 2014/15.

Centre-halves Matt Williams and Sam Avery have signed contracts to keep them at the club for the coming season.

Avery, 26, was a member of the superb Gloucester City youth set-up and in February 2005 became the first recipient of the Pete Chase bursary.

In July 2013 he joined Shortwood United and picked up the Players and Supporters Player of the Year for the season.

He re-joined the Tigers in 2014 and became a key component to City’s defensive line. Avery made 46 appearances last season, scoring once.

Former Cheltenham Town trainee Williams, 21, was signed in the summer of 2014 after captaining and standing out for Bishops Cleeve.

Matt has become a fan favourite during his time with the Tigers for his commitment and assured performances at the heart of the Tigers defence.

He made 41 appearances in 2014/15 and scored twice, including a stunning half volley away to Bradford Park Avenue.

Skilful winger Connor Thompson has also signed a contract to stay with the Tigers for next season. Thompson, 20, impressed in his short time with us at the end of last season, scoring once in four appearances.

Jack Harris is also signed on for the 2015/16 campaign, as he signed a 2 year deal at the start of the 2014/15 Conference North season.

These players join the list of already announced committals and new signings for next season that are Tom Webb, Mike Green, Adam Connolly, Harry White, Obi Anoruo, Mike Symons and Jasbir Singh.
