FF News Posted May 27, 2015 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Liverpool, Porto and PSV will join Corby Town for the Steel Park Cup 2015 on Saturday 25th July and Sunday 26th July The Steel Park Cup will take place in a league format, with each side playing twice. Teams will be awarded three points for a win and one point for a draw. Goal difference will be the deciding factor if two sides are level at the end of the weekend. The winning team will be presented with the Steel Park Cup after the final match on Sunday. Supporters will enjoy two matches on both Saturday and Sunday, with one ticket giving access to both matches on a particular day. The Steelmen will host Porto B in the opening match of the tournament at 12pm on the Saturday, with Liverpool XI facing PSV XI at 4pm. On 26th July Corby will host PSV XI, before Liverpool XI bring the tournament to a close against Porto B. Corby Town chairman Stevie Noble said: “We are delighted to be able to confirm three leading European clubs for this year’s Steel Park Cup. "We are looking forward to hosting the tournament, which will offer our supporters the chance to see some top sides at Steel Park before the start of the new season, it will of course also provide a very competitive level of preparation for all the teams involved ahead of the 2015/2016 season..” Steelmen manager Tommy Wright toldcorbytownfc.co.uk; "It will be another great spectacle for the fans, who were fantastic for us last year . It will also get everyone associated with the club excited for the new season, from the players and fans, to the board of directors and sponsors. Again it shows our ambition as a Football Club and the great progress that we are making." Director Paul Glass added; “The Steel Park Cup has been the culmination of 12 months hard work and in particular the club would like to than Tommy for working really hard to put such a prestigious line up together along with our sponsors QPS, Willow Place and Utility Bidder. James Longley of Utility Bidder is moving his business to Corby and has been instrumental in supporting the club to achieve what is a huge event for not only the Football Club but the town and the county also”. “We are also in advanced talks about the possible televising of the tournament and there are some brilliant commercial opportunities for any businesses or individuals who wish to support the event for more information please email me at pglass@corbytownfc.co.uk”. Tickets will be available from an outlet in Corby Town Centre kindly provided by Willow Place which will be announced shortly. Tickets will be priced at £20 for adults, £15 concessions and £10 for under 18’s per day for general admission. Tickets for the main stand will be priced at £25 for adults, £20 concessions and £15 for under 18’s. Season Ticket holders will be entitled to a 25% discount.
