We’re expanding, and we’re always looking for bright, professional and passionate people to join our team.

Football Watcher
Location: Kensington , United Kingdom

Full-time

The Company

We produce estimates of future outcomes of football matches by using statistical data modelling – commonly referred to as odds compiling. We take an in-depth statistical approach to football, using a unique blend of both quantitative and qualitative techniques to collect and analyse our data. We monitor every match in the major European leagues, and analyse relevant factors in order to come up with a precise prediction of the strength of each team.

We have grown rapidly over the past few years, and we owe our success to the strength of our employees. There is an entrepreneurial energy surrounding our company with a professional yet friendly atmosphere. You will have many opportunities to collaborate with some of the most talented football minds in the country.

We are located in West London and the role requires you to work from our office.

The Role

This is not a role for the average football fan who is looking for a comfortable job in Football. We take pride in our competitive environment. We use a rigorous, methodological approach to analyse football, and our employees are pushed hard to achieve their best. We seek to provide all employees with constructive feedback to foster their career growth.

Your job will be to watch matches, both live and recorded, and register events using our software system. You will be exposed to football from several different leagues and you will need to learn quickly how to apply our framework.

Watching a game is intensive, repetitive and requires meticulous attention to detail. Your registrations will contribute to our database and each registration can have an important impact on our prediction of the team's strength in a match. That's why we need the best analytical eyes for this role, and put a lot of investment into your training. Your registrations will be monitored to make sure you are working within our parameters, and to help you continue to develop your watching skills.

Terms

This is not a normal day job. We watch leagues from around the world, therefore our office is open 24/7. You will be working from our London office and it is important that you are aware that there will be a lot of evening work, late nights and early mornings, including every weekend. You should be prepared to change your lifestyle according to this working pattern as the fixture lists dictate. This is a full-time role on a part-time contract, averaging 30 to 40 hours per week. Watchers can earn upto 24K per annum.

Salary is per game when watching games, and per hour for other tasks. There is the prospect of promotion to Junior Analysts and eventually full-time contracts for our most hard-working and dedicated watchers.

The watcher role is paramount to the company and as such we offer you several benefits: an in-house chef; a fantastic reduced gym membership; and a cash-back private health plan. You will be working in a beautiful building with social space to break out, play ping–pong or enjoy your coffee in our garden.

What we're looking for

Ideally you will have completed your education (a university degree of at least a 2:1). Academic records are not essential, but we want to see indicators showing that you are ambitious, diligent, and hard-working. Relevant experience is also a clear advantage.

You also need:

•Extensive knowledge of football
•To be reliable, meticulous, and honest.
•The ability to work independently and to be self-motivated
•To be able to attend a 2 week training period beginning on 10th August 2015, from 10am–5pm, including weekends.
•A valid permit to work in the UK and be able to work in London on a daily basis
If you do not match all of the above you need not apply.

The Interview Process

Once you have submitted your application it will be reviewed.

If you successfully get through the CV round, you'll receive an email detailing the training programme, and you may be invited for a phone interview where you will be quizzed on both your CV and your football knowledge. The phone interview will last no more than 10–15 minutes.

If you are successful, you will be invited for an Assessment Day where you will under-take a series of tests and quizes.

The final stage is an interview. From assessment to the final stage takes around 3 weeks.

You will be told of our decision at least one week before the start of the training programme.

How to Apply

To apply, you'll need to complete a short online application form. The form is a short questionnaire with an opportunity for you to explain why you'd be right for the job.

You'll also need to upload a copy of your CV, so make sure you have that handy.
