Majority of Longlevens' title winners commit

Longlevens AFC have revealed that the majority of last season's Uhlsport Hellenic Division 1 East title winning squad have re signed ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

Jack Overthrow and Adam Hemming have both departed and re signed for former club Gala Wilton although the latter has signed forms and will be available midweek for Longlevens.

Included in the players to commit are players player of the year Adam Hughes and managers player Dave Merrick both members of a midfield area with strong competition for places along with Dave Rich and new signing Jonty Welch who has impressed during pre season.

Up front Brad Martin has committed his future to the club, despite interest from a southern league club and will look to recapture the form from two seasons ago where he scored 40 goals in our successful county league title campaign, he joins Shaun O'Connor, Ryan Dunn and youngsters Brad Vanstone and Aston Cooper in the forward positions.

We are please to also announce Goalkeeper Ollie Hall has committed to the club, along with last seasons back four, Luke Kavanagh, Ed Smyllie, Ellis Sausman and Craig Beaton. Manager James French is also hoping to complete the signing of one more defender this weekend.

Finally club captain Craig Martin will lead the side again this season and will be vital to the team as we look to make an impact in our first season at step 5.

Pre season has provided some mixed results as manager James French has utilised the whole squad, defeats at County league outfit Frampton United (0-2), Bishops Cleeve (1-3) and Cirencester Town (0-1) but positive performances and wins against Gloucester City (1-0) and Cinderford Town (2-1)

One final game remains this Saturday away at County League newbies Hardwicke AFC (3pm), despite having goalkeeper Ollie Hall, Adam Hughes and Ryan Dunn unavailable French will name a strong team with a starting line up resembling that which will face Highmoor Ibis the following Saturday in the Hellenic Premier League.
