Guiseley planning Nethermoor upgrade

For a number of months Guiseley AFC have been working hard to progress plans to upgrade Nethermoor to a level suitable, and necessary, for the Vanarama National League.

Following consultations - held in 2014 with local residents and community members - we have reviewed our plans and are currently putting forward proposals for new spectator terracing, a new turnstile unit and new toilets. These are to be put before the Plans Panel of Leeds City Council on Thursday, August 6.

Our new plans - necessary to meet the spectator safety and comfort regulations set out by the National League - have been recommended by the planners and, as such, we are hopeful of getting the green light.

The meeting will take place in rooms six and seven of the Civic Hall from 1.30pm and is open to the public.

"It has been a long journey to get the planning proposal to the panel with, I believe, a recommendation for approval," said chairman Phil Rogerson.

"As a club in the heart of the local community it's been vital that we incorporate the views of our neighbours, supporters and the wider community and so have adapted our initial plans.

"We received great support for the development of a Community Building, which we remain committed to for the benefit of both the club and local people.

"Our future plans - which will be put forward for review at a later date - will involve collaboration with Guiseley Cricket Club.

"In the long term we aim to build attached but discrete facilities for both clubs for their mutual benefit and that of the general community."
