Fisher wants to keep run going ahead of Worthians cup tie

Highworth Town head to Combined Counties Football League Premier Division outfit Farnham Town tomorrow in the preliminary round of the FA Cup. And the reward for winning this tie, apart the £1,925 prize money, is a trip to the Kent coast in the first qualifying round.

Although the manager John Fisher struggles to see how the draw has been regionalised, he knows that maintaining their winning run is a priority. Fisher has also praised his back-line for how they have begun the campaign.

Highworth, in the five matches played, have only conceded two goals - one in the league and one in the cup. “Before every match I tell the back five to just concentrate on defending - don’t worry about anything else,” the Worthians boss said.

“If you keep clean sheets then you have got a good start and that is what we have been doing. Now we just have to worry about scoring goals. We have got TJ (Bohane) and he will always get you goals.”

With no availability or injury concerns for tomorrow’s trip Hampshire, Fisher is hoping that he will be able to bring in a new striker next week. “We are looking to get TJ some help,” the Highworth manager said. “I’ve spoken to a centre forward who has been in the Southern League and is proven at our level. He is going to let me know next week.”
