FF News
After two tough away visits to Lincoln and Eastleigh, Macclesfield Town manager John Askey is hopeful that a return to the Moss Rose on Saturday against Chester will aid a Silkmen victory. The squad that will host Chester is strengthened with the return of goalkeeper Shwan Jalal who suffered an injury which caused him to be hospitalised against Lincoln. However, Jalal has contention for the number one spot after Ritchie Branagan stepped up to the mark and played exceptionally in the close fought 1-0 defeat to Eastleigh. Askey said: ‘’ Shwan is available which is great obviously, Ritchie is done himself no harm at all against Eastleigh, and so it’s nice to have competition for the first choice spot. ‘’We have a nice selection dilemma it’s now up to whoever has the starting spot to keep hold of it and hopefully it’ll create good competition between the pair. As Macc look to return to winning ways the boost of a fit Jalal improves the squad and Askey believes it could be a great occasion for the team on this bank holiday. Askey said: ‘’Everyone is fit, we’re all raring to go and it’s always nice to play bank holiday weekend, get a good crowd and hopefully we’ll win the game.
