AFC Darwen have announced the appointment of Neil Prince as their new manager.

Neil has previously been the manager at Evo-Stik League club Prescot Cables, and he also guided Bootle to their first Liverpool Senior Cup win in 2013.

Neil, who had spells at Torquay United and Southport in his playing days, also brings with him his assistant Neil Black and John O'Toole who is a former Everton goalkeeping coach. He will take charge of the team for the first time when AFC Darwen host Maine Road at the WEC Anchor Ground on Wednesday.

The move follows an announcement over the summer that the club intended to enhance the management team, and Nick Lloyd, who had been looking after first team affairs, has stepped down from the role but will continue to be involved with the club.
