Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Lancaster City have unveiled Phil Brown as their new manager.

The former Dolly Blues assistant boss, pictured, was named on Monday morning as the successor to Darren Peacock who left by mutual consent following the First Division North club's 2-0 defeat at Droylsden in the FA Cup's Second Qualifying Round.

Brown finished last season as Stockport County’s caretaker manager in the National League North having arrived at Edgeley Park as Alan Lord’s number two before stepping up.

The head of football at Myerscough College and a Preston North End academy coach, Brown previously acted as Tony Hesketh’s number two at Giant Axe and is set to take charge for the first time after his return on Wednesday night when the Dolly Blues head to Northwich Victoria for their FA Trophy Preliminary Round replay.

Former Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers defender Peacock, 47, was appointed in April 2013 as the successor to Neil Wainwright and local Non-League stalwart Michael Stringfellow.

Following his departure seven days ago, former Morecambe midfielder and senior prpofessional Garry Hunter took charge of City as interim boss, securing a 2-2 home draw with Farsley Celtic in the league last Tuesday night before Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to the Vics.
