Leek Town’s reserve team keeper Thomas Porter-Hargreaves collapsed during a game at Uttoxeter Town on Saturday.

The 19-year old stopper was lining up to take a goal kick when he went down clutching his chest. Fortunately there was a doctor watching the game and he treated the distressed youngster until he was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

The game was abandoned.

The Newcastle based keeper was subsequently diagnosed with sudden inflammation of the muscles between his ribs causing pressure on his lungs resulting in difficulty breathing.

Thomas was detained overnight for observation and released on Sunday morning.

Blues officials have thanked everyone at Uttoxeter Town for their assistance, especially the doctor who was in attendance.
