I note with interest that the club have managed to get a 25 year lease with TDC on HDP.

Does this mean another quarter of a century of excuses why we wont get the ground upgraded?

Mr.L says he has a meeting later in Feb with the above to "share his visions for this Football Club". Well, good luck with that I say.

I expect Chris Kinnear had the same thoughts!

Just what does it take to put some sort of cover with a roof on it at the Coffin End?  It seems like a lifetime since that all went.

He also states that he wants training back in the area. How is that going to be achieved? If TDC WERE to OK that, does he honestly think that the players(the great percentage of whom are NOT local to this area)are going to travel mid week from work down to the coast!? Of course not. That of course would mean getter players more local to the area. And where are they going to come from?

Although seeming rather pessimistic, I do wonder how long Mr.L. is prepared to keep putting his money and time into the club,if he doesn't see any improvements, such as ground improvements and rising attendances.

not at the meeting unfortunately, and difficult when you get half a message, but is the interpretation that need 1300 attendances to justfiy ground improvements the gist of what was said.

thats a chalenge !!

surely realisim needs to be seen.

Over a couple of years-i do think its feasible to slowly grow it to over 1000 if we are top half nls AAND get CUP SUCCESS,but 1300 seems a step beyond to me.

that given-if national league status is achieved- 1300 plus would be realisitic, and achievable i think.

i don't think club is ready for National league for a couple of seasons though-so personally happy to tread water in NLS whilst infrastructure is strengthend further

Some good points NKN. I doubt if we have regularly trained in the area since the 1980s. It will definitely put players off.

As for the 25-year lease, that surely makes an all-singing, all-dancing new stadium financially unviable? Though if it means gradual improvements instead that may not be a bad thing ultimately.

The stuff about getting a 1,300 average seems like preparing an excuse for not building a new stadium. We averaged 1,200 in our first Conference season but, apart from that, our crowds haven't been that high since the 60s.

If any of you had been at the meeting you would have heard Nikki state that most part time players will travel any distance to play, after all it is only for 2 evenings.

As for the attendance, no that was not said Michael but they hope with an ever improving team that sort of attendance is achievable.

Firstly,I believe that the "club line" is to say that players will travel any distance. After all, they're hardly going to say otherwise,as the rumour treadmill would go into overdrive!

Secondly,I feel that 1300 is "achievable with an improving team" will take some marketing! Just look at our friends round the corner, who are 4th in the National League. At the moment they average round about 950 for a home game!

I just hope I'm proved wrong because this club deserves better after this last decade or so.

agree with CE gradual improvements are the way forward and NKN I agree get some cover down the Coffin End no one is going to sit down in the pi$$ing rain are they....just getting cover down there will improve the look of the ground straight away along with  brick built home and away changing rooms, oh and tidy up 'no mans land' behind the changing rooms and a walk way to the coffin end again behind the changing rooms that will certainly improve the look.....but all money I guess BL pockets not bottomless after all

Its obviously not going to happen for quite a while-and money to one side-i'd love to see walkway access behind the 'changing rooms 'so you could walk to either end on that side.

am i right that IF IF IF the club were to reach national league status-you have to have more than one paid entrance point (maybe not as dover have not currently got that ) which could lead to the grand re-opening of the tivoli road turnstiles
